Most life changing event(s) of your life in 2011?

We bought our first house in October, 2011!  We're still getting used to it... settling in, unpacking, learning all of the noises... but it's been nice so far!

Best book(s) you read in 2011?

I don't really read much.  I don't know if it was this year or last, but the last good book I read was "Here We Go Again: My Life in Television" by Betty White.  It seems like the only books I enjoy are (auto)biographies of comedians.

Favorite movie you saw in 2011?

I really liked Horrible Bosses.  Is it terrible if that's my favorite?  Oh, or the Muppets.  We saw both of those in the theater, but I was really excited to see Muppets.  We saw it on opening weekend, which is rare for us.

Favorite show you watched in 2011?

How I Met Your Mother or The Sing Off

Best concert or play you saw in 2011?

Ben Folds, live with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra!  It was Ben's songs, written for the whole orchestra, with Ben on piano.  DH and I went for our 2nd anniversary present to each other.  Loved it!

Any vacations you took in 2011?

We had to go to my sister's destination wedding in Florida this year.  It definitely wasn't our choice (we go to FL a lot to see my Dad who lives there, so it's not really a special "treat" to go).  That was in March, then we visited my Dad there in November too.  We had a couple of long weekends in Chicago too this year.

Any AWs from 2011?

Not really.  Just the house purchase, I guess.  Oh, and DH got a new job this year that came with killer benefits.

What are your goals for 2012?

Lose a few pounds, get better at my job (it's tax-season realated, so it'll be stressful for me soon), save as much money as possible.

The ABC family stuff (I'm a nerd), so The Lying Game, Switched at Birth, Pretty Little Liars. Also, Downton Abbey and Dexter.

Best concert or play you saw in 2011?
I only saw 1 - Sugarland with Sara Barreilles. It was awesome. Even my non-Country loving husband had a good time .

Any vacations you took in 2011?
New Orleans and Vermont (VT is just visiting family). Love NoLa, we can't wait to go back!
 
Any AWs from 2011? 
New job, new house, awesome baby...of course, all of that means very little sleep...but I'll AW it anyway .

What are your goals for 2012?
Lose weight! I need to wear a strapless  bridesmaids dress in August and still have about 20 lbs to lose from pregnancy...and I didn't even eat loads of garbage!

Any vacations you took in 2011?  Nothing big. A couple weekend trips to Orlando and a weekend getaway to Homestead-Miami
Any AWs from 2011?   How much our LO has learned over the last yr. He is talking sooo much now and constantly wanting to know what everything is
What are your goals for 2012?  Try to get out of some debt and possibly let DH get a boat.

I became an auntie in 2011!

Best book(s) you read in 2011?

I was really enthralled with The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks.  Medical ethics have come a very long way since the 50s.

Favorite movie you saw in 2011?

Harry Potter - but I'm about to go see Sherlock Holmes so stay tuned! 

Favorite show you watched in 2011?

I don't really watch much live TV.

Best concert or play you saw in 2011?

Not much of this stuff this year either.  I did go see one of our local theater companies rendition of a Christmas Carol a few weeks ago.  Very good.

Any vacations you took in 2011?
We went camping with some of my husband's co-workers which was really great.  DH and I took a long weekend away for our anniversary and then we went on a big family vacay to Key West FL which I loved. 

Any AWs from 2011?

Not really.  Been a pretty "meh" kind of year.

What are your goals for 2012?

Get healthier (not necessarily lose weight but I wouldn't turn it down as a side effect!), eat vegetarian once a week (we hit it once a month right now probably), join the church we've been casually attending, make more money!

Most life changing event(s) of your life in 2011? Leaving a boss I hate for a job with a future--SO much happier there.

Best book(s) you read in 2011? I don't really read much either...I'm dying to read a Dance with Dragons, but DH doesn't trust me not to give anything away and he is dragging his feet about reading it.  The book came out in freaking July! Jerk.

Favorite movie you saw in 2011? Probably Harry Potter.  I'm addicted to Netflix, but I think that was my favorite new movie.

Favorite show you watched in 2011?  TV or live performance?  I didn't go to any live performances, but thoroughly enjoyed Game of Thrones.

Best concert or play you saw in 2011? N/A

Any vacations you took in 2011? DH and I went to Quebec City for our anniversary this year.  We were lucky and had the most beautiful weather all season.

Any AWs from 2011? Some of you may have noticed that I closed my Etsy shop this fall.  That's because a local yarn company now commissions me to test out their patterns--something I like way better than trying to advertise my own things.  I'll be spending most of this weekend working on one of their projects.

What are your goals for 2012? Less about me, but DH should be finishing his accounting classes this summer, which means he can start gearing up for the CPA.  And that means we can reassess purchasing a home--which is all about me

Most life changing event(s) of your life in 2011? The Mr and I had a bit of a rough time at the beginning of Summer. We took stock of our relationship and realized we have things we need to work on before they become really damaging. On the up side though I now have CREDIT!!! Woot. Best book(s) you read in 2011? I really liked The Hungry Games which surprised me because I usually hate anything dystopian. Favorite movie you saw in 2011? Honestly I don't even remember going to the cinema for anything except Puss in Boots a few weeks ago and that was only because my work secret pal gave me a gift certificate. I really don't like movies very much. Favorite show you watched in 2011? The all star cycle of America's Next Top Model and Anna and Kristina's Grocery Bag. Best concert or play you saw in 2011? I don't think I went to a play or concert this year. We did see Peepshow in Vegas, it was alright. Any vacations you took in 2011? Me and the Mr went to Vegas in February for my 30th birthday, that was pretty fun and driving through 11 states and 5 provinces with my cousin in July was AWESOME! Any AWs from 2011? New wheels, oh yeah! What are your goals for 2012? Shape up a bit more, as in burn off the holiday pounds. Save money, travel (which does not go hand in hand with save money), see friends more, try to keep a journal and take lots of pictures.

For us, NOT having any life changing events was great. Nothing changed, and that was good.

Still reading it- "Animal, Vegetable, Mineral" by Barbara Kingsolver.

Favorite show you watched in 2011? 'Nurse Jackie!

Best concert or play you saw in 2011? Like Kel, I'm a HUGE Ben Folds fan,  and this year I got to sing Happy Birthday to his daughter Gracie when he played here! I also got to see a student performance of The Nutcracker, which beat out the fancier versions if you ask me!

Any vacations you took in 2011? Vegas, and counting the days 'till I can go back....I love the total lack of clocks....

Any AWs from 2011? Have a handful of Metric Centurys under my bicycle and can climb to the Junction of Mt. Diablo! (2500ft). I'm a damn rockstar! We are also DEBT FREE, with some $ in the bank. Go me, go us!

What are your goals for 2012? For starters, we're going to stop buying grocery-store produce (Thank you, Barbara Kingsolver!), and with the exception of frozen items and bananas (I love them) hope to buy all our fresh produce locally and eat more seasonally. I will also ride my bicycle this year with the intent of adding 1+ full Century rides to my 'have done' list.

Becoming an aunt and an "almost aunt" (BFF had a baby too)

I really enjoyed "A Confederate Girl's Diary."  I'm slowly chipping away on "The Count of Monte Cristo" and "The Brothers Karamozov," both of which are great too -- they'll be on the top of the 2012 list, I'm sure.

I can't even remember going to the theater this year!  My favorite that I watched for the first time was "Julie & Julia" even though it's not even new!

Modern Family.

I think a children's version of Seussical.  It was excellent.

We went to Israel!

To continue working to be a better wife/Christian/friend/mentor/teacher/person/etc...
