Heavy appetizer NYE menu, suggestions?

We having a casual heavy appetizer dinner for NYE.  Here's what I am making.....

Chili con Queso dip, Corn & Black Bean "caviar" dip & Pico de Gallo - all served with tortilla chips.

Ham & Cheese Sandwich bake (mini baked sandwiches)

Panko Chicken Tenders with Honey Mustard dip

Crab Rangoon with S&S sauce

Salad (someone else is making, so I don't know what kind)

Think I should make anything else??? TIA!

  • It all sounds really good, but I would add another veggie option besides the salads.  Are you adding other snacks besides the apps?  I'd add one more crunchy salty snack to it.

Exactly what I was thinking too. Maybe some spiced nuts, chex mix, or wasabi peas or something? Or we had these Cardamom Spiced Cashews a couple years back on NYE that were really good (you make them in a skillet).

And maybe add some veggie crudit?s with dip?  We had this as an app on Christmas and it was amazing - veggies dipped in anchovy butter. Makes veggies elegant!

ETA: oops, you wanted casual. nevermind about the elegant!  :)

  • Hi, im new at this, and maybe is to late for this, maybe you already had your dinner, but this can help you for the future.  I would make a chicken salad to eat with saltines. Really easy to make. Just boil chicken, potatoes, and carrots, and when potatoes and carrots are soft, remove from pot, and leave chicken boiling while you cut potatoes and carrots in small squares, when chicken is cooked, shred and combine with vegetables, a can of peas, salt, mayonaise, and done!

Serve with saltines, use tapatio for salsa.  I saw one of your comments to another member about canisters, do you still own the canisters from ballard designs?  I been looking for this canisters for a long time, i know ballard designs dont sell them anymore.  When you are bored with them or are remodeling your kitchen, think of me, ill buy them from you, ok?  Thanks very much.
