Dec - DH and I signed our official legal partnership papers.
Throughout the year (from march on), helped MIL get GMIL's house ready to sell (cleaned and such) which meant we actually saw ILs way more often. My dad came to visit us a bunch of times from the US.
I loved doing this/making this list and I think I'm going to copy what I wrote and print it out as a reminder that despite the fact that 2011 sucked, it also contained beautiful memories and awesome events throughout the year. I was able to find something for every month :-) Very therapeutic!!

Thanks for the good wishes, titcole. It's definitely felt like a year of growing up. Those kind of things sure make a girl feel like an adult (also, I became an aunt as well....good things too!).
Here's to all of us having a good 2012! ::clinks invisible champagne flute::
January -- Rang in the New Year by watching the fireworks at the lake in Zurich. I traveled to see my family for a month. Including a trip south to my grandparents.
February -- Arrived back from the US. Then went to Berlin and Stralsund for our honeymoon/vacation. We basically froze are butts off for two weeks.
March -- Start of spring in Zurich. It was a pretty warm spring and the flowers were beautiful! We went to Geneva for the Car Show but it was so crowded that we left to check out the city which was a let down too. We also took the train to Rapperswil and explored for the day and then took the boat back from Zurich.
April -- This was the hardest month for me. I was basically in a haze most of the month extremely homesick and my grandfather passed away. I had my birthday and DH took me to the Jungfraujoch as my present. We watched Zurich blow up a giant snowman to see if we would have a nice summer.
May -- Babysitting jobs started to pick up and I was able to make my own money. I also started working for one family a lot more often and it was making me feel more comfortable about living in Zurich. I started a one month language class finally. Made me feel so much better now that I was getting out and learning.
June -- The snowman predicted right and Zurich had an awesome summer. The weather was beautiful! I dog walked every afternoon. Which got me out of the house and drastically lowered my depression.
July -- Went to a concert by myself and really enjoyed it! DH had his visa interview and it was approved!
August -- My mom comes to visit! I show her around Zurich and we all rent a car and drive to Lugano with a stop at the Furka Pass. I used the money set aside from babysitting to take my mom to Engelberg to see Mt. Titlis. DH and I with his mother went to visit Mt. S?ntis.
September -- Very busy month... We packed and cleaner our apartment on the weekend of our first anniversary. We were so tired we never went to our favorite restaurant for dinner and ended up ordering pizza. Then we spent two weeks visiting DH's family in Germany and Switzerland. Day trip to Amsterdam. End of the month we left Zurich and flew to Milwaukee.
October -- Another very busy month! DH found a job in three weeks. We came to Chicago for two days to apartment hunt. Found one and moved in 4 days later. Officially moved to Chicago now.
November -- Had someone get mugged outside of our apartment and a almost break in. Yet I still try to pretend I'm totally safe living in the city! We drove up to Wisconsin for Thanksgiving and I stayed up for the long weekend.
December -- Started looking at colleges to transfer too. Got into the holiday spirit. First Christmas back home with my family in two years. We had friends over and had goose for New Year's.
