S/O shower cleanings - textured shower floors

We have a shower stall with a textured, anti-slip floor. Unfortunately the texture consists of tiny bumps, creating a ton of tiny crevices for soap scum build-up. I have to use a hard-bristled brush and a lot of Soft Scrub to get it clean. The elbow grease required to clean out the soap scum is huge, to the point that it causes me a great deal of wrist pain.

Aside from getting a brand new shower stall, any suggestions for keeping soap scum to a minimum in between cleanings? I've tried using daily shower spray but it doesn't seem to help.  Thanks!

  • Buy the cheapest bottle of shampoo you can, think Suave or V05, pour the entire bottle on the floor of your shower (cover the drain with a rag to keep it in) and let it sit for a couple of hours, go back and give it a quick scrub and rinse. I swear your shower will look like new!

  • I have a similar problem, so I'll be watching this post for more answers! Our shower drains so slowly, no matter what I do to it. I've used dranos and snakes and all sorts of things, but it still drains slowly. So, our soap scum build-up is constant! Drives me crazy.

  • Just an update that I've been researching this on Google and experimenting a bit.  One interesting method I found was to spray Easy Off Oven Cleaner (blue can only) on the soap scum, leave it there for a couple hours (with ventilation), and then scrub.  I'm seeing a difference with this and wish I had tried this before I gave my shower floor a really good cleaning because I suspect it would have saved me some time and effort.
