Update: T&Ps Requested Please

One of my good friend's daughter is 27.5 weeks pregnant with twins. She has had complications in which one of the babies is not growing as expected and she has been on 24 hour monitoring in the hospital for the past week. I just received a call from my friend that they are having to take the twins tonight.

Prayers and thoughts would be greatly appreciated that the babies survive and have no major long-term health complications. 27.5 weeks is so early.

UPDATE: Thank you for the kind words and encouraging stories! I spoke to my friend this morning and got an update on the babies. The larger twin weighed in at a little over 2 pounds and he is doing well. They were able to remove the breathing tube today. The smaller twin weighed in at 1 lb 4 oz. He is struggling a bit, but overall they are seeing small improvements. Thanks again for the T&Ps.

Praying. My son was born at 26 weeks and hasn't had any problems. It is super scary and a tough road in the beginning, but there is so much that can be done for these tiny babies.

My daughter was born at 28 weeks, but was IUGR and was measuring more like 25 weeks or so (1 lb 11 oz). She is now 4 years old and has no lasting effects of her prematurity. As KellyMichelle said the beginning is very rough and so difficult to get through, but there are amazing outcomes these days! I hope the twins thrive in the NICU and that her NICU stay is relatively uncomplicated!

Best thing you can do is support them for the months of NICU time. Frozen meals, prepared meals, etc.

Being a twin parent with one or both in the NICU is so stressful.

Many prayers for them. My nephew was born at 24 weeks. He turns 3 this week & is perfect. I pray that your friend's twins have the same wonderful treatment that he did to allow him to thrive.
