French bulldog needs a home....

My sister bought a beautiful french bulldog 2 months ago and did not have a place that she could keep her. I have been "puppy sitting" ever since the day that she bought her but I just am unable to do it anymore. My sister is homeless as of Wed (due to a short sale). She is looking for a new home for Lola. Please PM me if you are interested or know someone who is. She is an amazing little pup.

Sorry that the pics are a little distorted.

  • You should keep her.

  • I would, seriously... but I don't have the kind of money that they are asking for her. I guess I should have mentioned that above.

They paid $2500 and are looking for $1,700, or best offer. (I feel horrible even saying that)

  • I wish her (and you) luck, but I have a feeling finding someone to adopt her is more likely....

  • Oh we would be happy to take her, but not for that kind of money, we have a purebred pug who didn't cost a third of that.

I have 3 purebreds (2 min pins & a lab) that didn't cost $1,700 together. I really do love this puppy though. This probably makes me more sad than it does my sister. We have gotten quite attached to her.

  • Why pay $2500 for a dog when you can rescue one for next to nothing? I hope the pup finds a good home!
  • She is so cute, but I nearly fell of my bar stool when I saw the price.

Kind of ironic that they paid $2500 for a dog and now their home is being short-saled.

Oh good. I kind of thought that might be the case after I wrote that.. The whole situation sucks. I feel sad for that little puppy, so sweet!

  • I'm not understanding... Why doesn't she find a new rental that's dog friendly?

They didn't know that the house sold. They just got a notice that they had to be out. They have been searching for something short term but haven't found anything yet. Her BF is in the process of purchasing a home but it is a short sale and they are dragging their feet over issues with the house. They will be staying with his mom until they settle and Lola can not stay with them.

  • Are you not able to continue fostering until they find a new home?  Perhaps she could look at dog sitters/boarders/in-home trainers who would keep her longer-term until they buy a house?

No, I can't. I have 3 dogs of my own and with L not sleeping at night, I am too exhausted to take care of a puppy. My niece was here helping but we had to ask her to move out on New Years Eve. I don't think that they can afford to board her long-term.

  • Awww she's so cute, I almost begged my husband to take her in lol but we already have two furballs (that is getting shaved today actually). His friend overheard and was interested until I said how much : ( My bestfriend would have loved to take her in because prior to her divorce they owned a French Bulldog named Alli but she can't afford that price right now either.

  • Are you just looking for someone to foster until they get into a home? or she is actually selling the puppy?

If Diva was a little friendlier i'd consider fostering her for a little while.

  • I just don't understand why they would even buy a puppy when they had no place to keep it from the get-go... You're a good sister for putting up with that incredible irresponsibility for this long. I hope that adorable puppy finds a good home.

Thanks for trying. :) I think we found someone who is interested but, I will not know until later this evening.

This is exactly what I said to her when she called me to tell me that she bought her and then asked if I could keep her for 2 months until they closed on the house.  But it doesn't look like its going to happen anytime soon. She knows that I animals and would cave in to watching her.

  • Did she buy the dog from a breeder?  Many (reputable) of them have connections and/or have a sale agreement where they have first dibs on taking/buying the dog back.

I'm agreeing with PinkWillow and also, it sounds like your sister isn't being fair to you. What is your sister going to do if you aren't able to find the dog a home at her asking price? I mean, if you have the dog and she has no means to take care of it, can't you tell her to suck it, she shouldn't have bought him in the first place, and now you have to be the responsible one? (Easy for a stranger to say, I know, but look at your situation from the outside, and what would you suggest...right?)

It sounds like getting the money back is more important to her than what you need and what the dog needs.

I have no idea where she bought her from. If the person who is interested doesn't adopt her, I will ask her about it.

  • We've always had rescues and that includes two pure bred dogs.  I hope this little frenchie finds a good home but I think the priority for her should be on finding a good home and not on making their money back.
