Crochet Accessories?

I am learning (and enjoying) crocheting. However, I have a rather mischevious dog who thinks he should chew on my yarn. He goes so far as to steal it out of the bag.
I am looking for some suggestions on a coverable/zipable bag of some sort that I can use to dispense the yarn to me as well as store what colors I'm using at the time, so that if I go somewhere, its easy to take with me.
