found a dead dog on side of road today
I was out this morning taking a walk with my 2 dogs, my 21 mo old daughter and my husband. I spotted a dead animal at the foot of the woods and saw that it had a short/docked tail and I thought to myself, that can't be a dog, please don't let it be a dog, and I really thought nah, it isn't, knowing it probably was. So I walked over to check it out and sure enough it was a little schnauzer. It didn't look as though it was hit by a car but it was lying on it's side as if someone placed it there. So I don't know if someone hit it and then put it there out of the way and didn't tell anyone or what. Maybe the other side of it could have been damaged from a car but I couldn't tell. I immediately broke down into hysterical sobs and told my husband it was a dog. I cried for the rest of the walk thinking of this poor doggy. It had no collar on and I don't remember ever seeing any of those houses with a schnauzer at them when we've walked by before. There have been no missing dog flyers around, but I was so upset for this poor thing and it's family b/c they probably have no idea where he or she is. I called animal control when I got home to tell them, but my heart was so broken after seeing this, I haven't stopped thinking about it and I've been crying on and off all day. I'm sad enough when I see a dead possum or racoon or squirrel etc, but a freakin dog, I can't take it. I just hope it didn't suffer. Sorry to share this, but it makes me feel slightly better to get it out so you guys can sympathize for the poor baby. I'm so sad.

How horribe! - I'm so sorry you had to find this poor doggie. But at least someone found him. Hopefully the family looking for him will have some closer. I know what it is like to loose a pet (who ran away) and never know what happened to them. You did the right thing calling AC.

I'm so sorry. Hugs to you. This happened to me a couple weeks ago, and I still think about the poor dog all the time. Just yesterday, I went looking in the neighborhood for any signs looking for a lost dog.
You did the right thing by calling AC. I also put up a post on Craigslist to let the owner know what happened if they are looking for the dog.
