very late PIP (aka my one Christmas knitting project)
I forgot to take a pic of this afghan before giving it to my cousin, but she snapped one for me:

Very pretty! I'm impressed!
The afghan I had planned for Christmas is going to turn into something like a Mother's Day gift...

Aww, thanks! That means a lot coming from you
Knitting a blanket takes
so much longer than crocheting one, but this pattern is so pretty
(simple, but pretty), it was almost worth it, haha! I'm sure you'll have a lovely Mother's Day gift to give
I said the same thing about her armchair!

That is beautiful! It makes me want to start one tonight!
Did you crochet the edges? Yours look more straight....which I really like!
I'm a novice knitter....so please excuse my slightly stupid question....but when a pattern calls for doubling the yarn when knitting, do you take the yarn from 2 skeins at the same time? So would you need to double the amount of yarn the pattern calls for? Sorry for the ridiculous question...I've just never knit anything with doubling the yarn!
Not a ridiculous question at all. Yes, you would take strands from 2 skeins at the same time, making it double thick. Alternatively, you could probably also try using a single strand of bulky weight yarn instead. I actually opted to do just a single strand of worsted so it's not quite what the pattern called for, but I liked the results. I did, however, screw up the width a bit and it ended up narrower than it should be. Oh well.
You don't need to double the number of skeins listed in the pattern; the double stranding is already accounted for. Of course, this pattern doesn't say how big the final product is using the 10 balls. FWIW, I used about five skeins of Wool-Ease for my overly narrow version
I did crochet the border as instructed in the pattern. If you don't like the shell border though, you could just do a couple rounds of single crochet to finish it off with a straight edge.
Any other questions, just let me know!
It looks lovely!
I haven't even had time to think about AWing all the stuff I made for Xmas...
So...how do I get on your Christmas list???

Ha, as soon as I get on your Christmas sewing list!
Thank you for explaining this! It makes much more sense for my beginner knitter brain. Adding it to my list of projects now!
Done!
