NROLFW Funny

So, I finally felt well enough to try it out this morning (I've been in a headache-induced fog for two days and it finally lifted!).

Squats: fine

Push-ups and seated row: fine

Step-ups: Well, I'm at home and have no step. I will have to figure this out. So, none.

Prone Jack-knife:  I completed 2 in the first set and 3 in the next because I couldn't stay on the ball. I rolled all over the living room floor, carpet burned my elbow, fell on my face and into the table. When I "completed" my second set, I rolled myself up to sitting on the ball, and then managed to roll backwards off of it.

Yup. One might say that's how I roll. I have done these before, a long time ago, when I was personal training and it sure helped to have someone steady you before you start! At least I got a good laugh out of my workout. I'm sure it would have been hilarious to be a fly on my wall today.

  • How high are your kitchen chairs? If they're sturdy, they might work for step-ups. Do you have a weight bench? It may be too soft, but the height is about right.

My main trouble with prone jack-knives was getting off the ball at the end without faceplanting. At least they're only mandated in stage 1!

  • Kitchen chairs are definitely a no-go. Cushions are pretty, well, cushy. Do not have a bench. I tried stepping up onto the brick area next to the fireplace, but it's a bit too high for me at this point. I'll have to work up to it. The depth is pretty shallow, too, so I had a hard time putting my whole foot up there and felt off-balanced.

I'll just have to suck it up and go to the gym where they will hopefully have something I can use as a step! My old gym had a box for that specific purpose...two, actually, at different heights.

Oh thank god the prone jack-knives are only in stage 1! There is hope!

  • My first time, I had a hard time with the jacknives as well. After the second time, they got easier.

In Stage 2, I've had a hard time not sliding off the incline bench in the Cuban snatch (heheh, sounds so dirty).
