what did you all do for new years?

and did you make any resolutions? are you sticking to them so far?

we hosted a rainbow party (where everyone dresses head to toe in the solid color of their choice) which was fun. we only ended up with about 20 guests since the weather decided to take a crap but it was still super fun. we blew off a boatload of illegal fireworks which i'm sure didn't make us popular with our less celebratory neighbors but it was still fun.

i no longer make resolutions (too many years of failing to follow through on them) but i made some good changes in 2011 and plan to continue on with them.

your turn!

Re: what did you all do for new years?

  • Sounds like fun!

DH and I went to O'Gara's for dinner and a Pat McCurdy concert.  It was pretty cool because we always used to see Pat McCurdy in Milwaukee and two years ago we randomly went to a bar by our apartment and he was there.  So much fun!!

I've never really done New Years resolutions, but I have gained a lot of weigt since moving up here a year ago.  I definitely hope to be more fit by 2013.  I'm going to start by walking four times a week. Not a resolution, just a goal.

  • We had a small party of 12 people.  It was a really good time.  All of the food and everything turned out great too.

DH and I made up a big list of goals for the year.  One of my bigger ones is to spend the year getting our house completely organized and get rid of things we don't need/use.  We are planning on TTC (which we aren't telling people IRL) in 2013 and we will be staying in our townhome for at least another 5 years so I want to maximize all of our space.  I've been having fun on pinterest pinning organization ideas, etc.   A lot of our other goals have to do with things we want to do before having kids.

  • We went to the Fort Snelling candlelight hike and then hung out at home. I'm not a big new years eve person anymore.

I don't make resolutions every year but I generally stick with them when I do. Here are some of them for this year:

Improve fitness (lift weights 2 times a week, go to yoga 1x week, work up to 30 min. with a loaded backpack on the stairmaster by May 1)

Learn how to canoe and go to BWCA

Get rid of clothes that make me feel like sh!t because they don't fit/aren't flattering

Stop thinking negative things about myself

Stain the windows (we got them 5 years ago and only 1 is stained)

Go one month without t.v. and not during the summer when it's easy

Make a plan of action for fostering or adopting a child

Get over fear of jumping into deep water

  • We went to the Lake Elmo Inn for dinner.  We brought Noah and he slept the whole time. The food was delicious as usual.

Then we went to a party and stayed until 11pm.  We wanted to get home since we still had Noah with and the weather was bad.

    It was a fun night.

    No resolutions for me.

  • We went to a really fun family-friendly party. All the kids were in great moods and stayed up past 12am. A little different than my New Years before kids but it was a lot of fun!

  • My dad took us out for pizza.  We got home around 8pm and lounged in bed watching TV, watched the ball drop and passed out.  We were going to watch a movie, but by the time we finished dinner, got home and got the girls to bed it was too late.

    I have 3 resolutions:

    1. Weight loss.  I'm 6 lbs below my pre-pregnancy weight, but 50 lbs away from my ideal weight.

    2. I have spent the last 4 months and the majority of my maternity leave cleaning and organizing my house.  I've gone to the Goodwill 8 times and have sold a ton of stuff on Craigslist, Pawn America and to Once Upon A Child.  My goal is to keep my house in the clean and organized manner that is in now.  It is so easy for me to get lazy with housework, I have turned my habits around and want to keep it that way.

    3. Is financial related.

  • We had my family's Christmas celebration and then went to the Gopher hockey game. And then we stayed up playing Super Mario Brothers. SO EXCITING. lol

We were going to start TTC, however, that ended up happening in 2011 so... no resolutions for 2012.

  • We spent the night painting in our "new" house until 3 AM. I'm still exhausted from that. And unfortunately we still have 4/5 rooms to go. 3 are done though! The good part is we haven't moved in yet, so we don't have stuff to work around.

I don't generally make resolutions. But there are a few things I'd like to do different/better.

I'd like to do a better job of keeping our house clean and organized. I'm hoping moving will be good motivation to do that.

I'd also like to work towards a better financial situation. It's currently better than it had been, but there is still room for improvement.

  • One of my besties goes to med school in Iowa and she was home.  She, her H, H and I stayed at their lake house.  We played scrabble, cranium, and fooseball.  After the ball dropped we got totally wild and played xbox kinect (which is tons of fun!)

Resolutions: we are going to TTC this year!  I'm super excited about the idea, so I guess by default H and I should get in shape and start treating our bodies better.
