BBQ Beef

DH wanted to make a brisket, but couldn't find one at Target so he picked up a different cut of meat. I'm not sure what kind. Anyhow he cooked it at 200 degrees for 6 hours and it ended up tough and flavorless. We have about half of it left. How can I make BBQ beef with it w/out it turning into shoe leather?

Re: BBQ Beef

  • I would try a crock pot.. I use mine alot and thats how I always make it anyway wether its left over or uncooked meat...
  • Beef is a tough cookie.  I prefer pork for this type of thing.  But, if you want to try the beef again, I would pick a beef roast and do it in the crock pot.

  • Make this!

    3 lb. beef roast
    1 can coke
    3/4 c. ketchup
    1 tsp garlic powder
    1 tsp onion powder
    1 tsp liquid smoke (optional)
    salt and pepper to taste

put roast in crock pot and pour coke over it. Cover and cook on low-until it is shred-able (about 6-8 hours). Use a fork to shred entire roast. Add remaining ingredients and mix. Continue on low for a bit to allow the flavors to meld.
