Please help! Vomiting and light red leakage

My husband is on his way home and we are going to take Sherlock to the emergency vet. He's been acting weird all day. He just threw up a liquidy-bile like vomit and then I noticed some light red wet spots on the floor in the basement. He came upstairs with me, sat in the corner in the kitchen, closed his eyes for a little while and when he walked away there was a little pool of light red. He won't let me hold him and there is obviously something wrong.

We are going to take him to the vet in about 20 minutes but I was wondering if anyone had any advice for me in the mean time or any idea what could being on. I'm freaking out :-/

Re: Please help! Vomiting and light red leakage

  • Oh no! Is there any way he could have gotten into something while you were gone? Eaten anything he wasn't supposed to?

Keep us updated! Sherlock seems like such an awesome kitty! T & P's out to you!

  • Not sure about the vomiting but the light red wet spots make me think blood in the urine and some kind of UT issue.  Good thinking getting to the vet right away as UT issues can escalate quickly and may become fatal, particularly in male cats.  Hope he's okay!

  • We just got back. They gave him two shots, an oral medicine, and an IV. They have stool and urine samples and they are going to call early tomorrow for results.

He still seems to be in pain, he is crying a lot and he's sat down twice since we got home leaving the light red spots behind. He also had a bowel movement, which I find encouraging. I'm hoping he will urinate with no problem soon, but I'm still freaking out :(
