Favorite homemade cleaners?

I need some links to your favorite household cleaners. Currently, I just sprinkle baking soda on everything, throw some vinegar on a rag, and then wipe down and rinse. This seems to be working pretty well, but I would like some cleaners I can mix and store so that DH can get on board with chemical free cleaners as well. What are your favorite mixes? Sorry for the wonky formatting - I'm on my iPad.

Re: Favorite homemade cleaners?

  • I fill a sugar shaker with baking soda so it's easy to dispense and store.

I filled a spray bottle with vinegar.

I keep rags in a drawer in the kitchen, which is next to the cabinet where the above mentioned is stored.

That's about as simple as you can get, lol.

I do the baking soda and vinegar method too and this is a great idea! I never thought of putting the baking soda in a shaker before.  Thank you!

Arm and Hammer now packages some of its baking soda in a shaker, too. It's really convenient.

  • Awesome! I have read a related article that talks about on How to save money on laundry and dishwashing detergent. Save money on dishwashing and laundry detergent by opting for precise amounts, instead of the convenience of pop-in squares. Or while you are at it, why not go all the way and save by creating your own? Using cheaper bottle dishwasher detergent or a homemade solution will save money, and in many cases, also be better for the environment, as less excess soap is flushed down the drain. I am going to try it later.
