going to attempt to make this, PIP
I found this on Pinterest, and its from Anthropologie, like 3 years ago, but I am in love with it, and can wear it when I get my baby bump... I think I will just find a similar pattern and tweak it a little. It has been 5 years since I touched a sewing machine though, but I was pretty good-I made my senior prom dress in school... But I am worried about the 5 year gap... So, any advice? tips? maybe rate the difficulty? recommend a material?
Re: going to attempt to make this, PIP
oops, heres the pic:
ok, tinypic isnt working with me, heres the link.... http://www.weddingbee.com/2009/09/01/a-dress-to-make-it-legal/
To protect my privacy, i didnt link to my pinterest, sorry... but it is the silver-ry gray dress, with the v-neck, and rosettes...
Is it this one? I think it's cute and would be fun to make. Especially if you have a similar pattern, it shouldn't be too difficult. I feel like dresses with gathers and ruching like that are a little bit more forgiving if you're not a pro.
Something else to consider, though... Are you newly pregnant? How far along? I remember when I started modifying my wardrobe for a bump, I had a hard time finding things that didn't have those deep necklines (similar to this dress). I wasn't comfortable with the huge amount of cleavage that every maternity shirt seemed to show, something I hadn't ever had to worry about prepregnancy.
oh yay! you posted the pic! thank you!
as for the cleavage, I am already busty, and wind up adding extra stitches to close up (at least a little) the v-necks I do already own, so I figured I would do that, or just wear a cami underneath, that is my go-to. And yes, newly pregnant!
I wore baggy tees and sweats with my first one, 5 years ago, I am determined to dress nice this go round... And I feel this is a dress I would wear after too.
Congratulations! When are you due?
It is a beautiful dress, and it could be dressed up or down to be worn for lots of different occasions.
unless my dr says otherwise at my first appointment tomorrow, August 20th. (thats from LMP) Oh it feels so good to share here, since we havent told anyone IRL lol! waiting for the heartbeat, ya know?
Since I will be pregnant during summer, I think I will fill my wardrobe with dresses.
YES. I lived in dresses the summer I was pregnant.
Good luck at the appointment!
Thank you!
