Fundraising Question..

So sorry if I start asking a lot of questions about fundraising. My sister and I are in the middle of planning a dinner event to help raise money for my brothers family and my little niece. So what is a reasonable amount to pay per person for a saturday dinner at a banquet facility for a fundraising event. It will be cash bar with a silent action and other raffle prizes. [Poll]

I voted other mostly because I just need more info about the food.  It would have to be a really nice dinner for me to pay $30 or more per person (even if it is for a fundraiser).  If it is just an average, run of the mill, dinner (chicken, pasta, etc), I'd probably have to say $20 or below. IMO

Thanks, we are thinking of just the basic wedding buffet dinner, so nothing super fancy.

K. Then I guess I would also take into account who would be there.  Obviously, if the fundraiser was for someone I knew, I would be more willing to shell out cashola.  If you are looking more to the general public, then I would still stick to my $20 per person range.  Some sort of entertainment might help too.  Maybe look for a band to volunteer (I know the metro Detroit area has a School of Rock that has kids that play in a band.  I saw them at a roller derby thing. lol).

My answer depends on knowing what your costs are.  In my experience, most banquet facilities charge $20pp or more for a dinner buffet, so I don't see how you could raise much money charging $30 per person after tax and gratuity.  Unless the venue is donating the food, or a portion of it?  Plus I assume you will have to pay something toward entertainment (again, not knowing if it is being donated or not).  I don't think $40 or $50 is too high at all.  Most people I know will spend anywhere from $20-50 on a birthday gift for someone, so that seems reasonable for a fundraiser.

I should add that I assumed that the banquet hall was being used free of charge. Obviously, you need to cover any costs of the fundraiser.
