Dry, dandruff skin?

After getting Lulu back from the vet her skin is really dry, itchy and flaky. Im guessing it is just because she hasn't been eating/eating right for a week? I would take her to the groomer and have them try and fix her but she's not allowed and I don't want her to be itchy for another two weeks.

Re: Dry, dandruff skin?

  • They make anti-itch soothing sprays (usually for things like flea/mosquito bites) for dogs; that might help her.

A good natural moisturizer is coconut oil. Bonus points: it smells and tastes good! (in which case you might have to keep Lulu from licking it all off, lol!)

  • What does she eat for food? Was she sick and that's why she was at the vet eating something different that week? (sorry if I missed an OP)

  • She had parvo so that's why she was at the vet and she didn't eat at all or what she did for 4 days came right back out. She's on Blue Buffalo, so not Kibbles and Bits or anything like that.
  • Yikes! Scary stuff! Did she pick it up at a shelter or something? So glad she is coming through OK!

  • I took her to the vet 5 days after adopting her from the shelter so Im guessing yes.

  • Maybe a bath with a soothing shampoo (like one with oatmeal in it)?

Good luck and keep us updated on her progress. Hope she is back to 100% soon!
