Oh hey, I had a baby
Thanks for all the well wishes, she's pretty awesome. Claire surprised us on New Year's Eve, not a bad birthday to have, I guess. We came home Monday and are adjusting at home.
Short birth story... after a lovely dinner with some local RE'ers, my water broke around midnight. Shocked the sh!t out of me. Got to the hospital around 2:00am, they checked me and I was only 1.5cm, boo. They had to give me morphine since I was so tense during the contractions. They moved us to labor and delivery around 6:00, got checked around 7:00 and I was 2cm, not awesome. Contractions were getting tough to get through and I got the epidural somewhere around 8:30 I think. Heaven I tell you. Progressed to 7cm in the next 2 hours, yay me! Started pushing around 1:50, pushed for about 20 mins and she was here! It was a really great experience, I think I had prepared myself for the worst.
