Murder by Facebook

So, earlier this week, a friend from HS posted about a missing girl from my hometown and tagged the missing girl who was her FB friend. Soon, other people from my hometown were posting news stories about it so I looked at the Wall of this girl.

There were tons of posts, mostly in what looked like teen speak, lots of cursing.

This girl was heavily tatted, poor and a drunk/druggie party girl so there were lots of comments related to the police not investigating enough because she wasn't a rich white girl.

She was 24, married for 6 months but estranged from her H and there were several domestic abuse charges on both sides it sounds like.

Anyway, there were also posts of concerns by him and fights between him and the girl's mom. Also some flirting from the girl to other guys she friended and then comments to them to f*ck off shortly after.

She apparently disappeared a lot on drunken binges, so no one really thought she was dead.

But she was.

They found her two days ago. And they arrested the husband for murder, suspecting that her messages on FB set him off. There were no signs of any trauma on her body, though.

Anyway, as this has gone down, both FB pages have been crazy. There are memorials to her all over her page. People have posted videos of her half naked, obviously in altered states, cursing about "I motherf*cking love all of you" while flipping the bird with comments like "she was so crazy and beautiful". Her friends are posting ALL CAPS hate messages all over his page about burning in hell for it, threatening, etc. And then his friends who stand by him are commenting about his three kids who may be reading it and that starts tangent arguments about whether they allow kids on FB and at what age.

Crazy.

And to be flameworthy, I admit I am sitting here just judging the whole thing. It's terrible this girl was murdered, but I think there a limit on how much shiit you can pull in your life and come away unscathed. Even her FB has a quote about wanting to live hard and die young.

Anyway,

here is the most recent news story

I can see both FB pages wide open since I am friends of their friend, but I have been told that most of both are public. I can't see them on my work computer though.

  • Dammit. Now I can't stop looking at her page.

Did you see where someone mentioned they hoped one of their "friends" ended up in the jail cell with her husband? I love overt death threats on FB.

I am not sure if his is open. I cannot C&P but the death threats there are crazy.

And I am not saying the guy didn't do it, but Jesus H, they don't even have cause of death or even any signs of trauma yet and the girl was a drinker/druggie.

I didn't click on the article, but is it possible that the girl just lived too hard?  Overdose?  Alcohol poisoning?

Yeah, I think it's possible. It is reported that she was drunk at a bar and called him to pick her up, but then took a cab home before he got there. She was posting drunk messages from FB while drunk that night. Her mom even said her lifestyle got her in trouble.

Bethie, his name is Brent Cotta. But I am not sure his FB page is open like hers. Moo couldn't see all of it. I assume I just can as friend of a friend. I'll try to find a way to copy some things

  • It is really sad that she passed but I am apparently an evil person because after reading that article I could not stop laughing at ?She straight conned me into getting a tornado tattoo on my back.? WHAT?!

In that article you liinked to there was another related article posted after that one that says the husband confessed to the murder and led them to the body.

Yeah, I saw that. And while that is damning, I still tend to be skeptical about what the news reports.

  • That's sad she was murdered, but I'm just overwhelmed with her FB and all the nonsense.

This reminds me of a story I heard a couple months ago:

This makes me wonder if there will be less defriendings on RE in the future.

  • OMG. The stuff he wrote on her last post is creepy as heck. "I would love to find her. I feel different this time..." Wowza.

    YES

And it also seems like he was drunk or crazy from killing her or something. He puts a period after every word.

Aren't the affidavits/arrest records public information? I'm sure you can look them up on the court's website since you are invested in knowing the story at this point.

I never thought about that. i wonder how I would find them though.

  • I'm not sure, but in ok you can search all court dockets by name. If he was arrested there would be records.
  • Well, I found it, but holy crap they must not want you to look up stuff. Once I logged on, I have no idea what I'm doing here
