s/o home organization challenge- kitchen ?
I'm curious to know what types of things everyone keeps on their counters. I would love to have less on ours, but we have no where to put some of the things that we keep there.
On our counters we have:
kitchenaid mixer
recipe box
coffee pot
toaster oven
salt & pepper grinders
knife block
large cutting board (up against the wall, so really doesn't take up counter space).
an occasional bottle of opened red wine that we just didn't finish in the one night.

Re: s/o home organization challenge- kitchen ?
Way too much, but again we just don't have anywhere else to put them
Coffee pot
toaster
kitchenaid mixer
flour, sugar, rice containers
salt & pepper grinders
knife block
wine rack
fruit bowl
electric can opener
Canister with spatulas, flippers, whisks, etc
Most of the time I keep our electric kettle out rather than put it away and haul it out again every day
2 plants
This is ridiculous since one of the things that I dislike about our kitchen is the lack of counter space. I can't really come up with a better way to organize things though.....that's the problem. I'd organize if I could
My counter has:
spice rack
coffee/espresso machine
knife block
tea pot
mandolin chopper
Brita water filter jug
4 ceramic canisters
paper towel holder
chalk board chicken - to write myself notes on.
At the end of the counter I also have my agenda and whatever mail I have to deal with sooner rather than later. There is a lot more on my counter than I want there to be. Personally I'm not a fan of knife blocks, if it wasn't a gift from my sister I would get rid of it. Same goes for the spice rack.. but I don't have any where else to leave them so it'll stay.

We don't have a ton of counter space. The stuff that always lives there:
Microwave, Sodastream, Phone, mini whiteboard thing, crock w/ utensils, knife block and that thing you put the dishes in while they dry (I don't know what it's called).
There's usually more than that on them, though.
Kate's Recipe Box || Relatively Bookish
From left to right:
*cookbooks we use most often
*silverware holder
*2 sets of canisters
SINK
*dish drying rack
*container of utensils
*cutting boards
STOVE
*microwave
Just today I cleaned off of our counters as part of the challenge...I pitched A LOT of unnecessary things (i.e. 6 sets of measuring cups!).
We have:
Keurig
Spice rack
Knife block
Paper towel holder
Fruit bowl
Ceramic canisters (4 of them for flour, sugar, brown sugar)
Utensil holder
There's more on the counters than I'd like, even though we have the space for it. I'm thinking of putting the spice rack in a cabinet or pantry since we hardly use them.
We have:
Toaster oven
Keurig
Spice Rack
electric can opener
knife block
canisters for flour, sugar, brown sugar
canister holding cooking utensils
salt, pepper, olive oil
microwave
I'd love to declutter some of it. I'm considering getting rid of the knife block and getting one of those magnetic strips that hangs on the wall. I was also thinking about new canisters for the flour/sugars and keeping them in the pantry. And, maybe getting rid of the spice rack.
Change jar, coffee jar, coffee maker, microwave, salt and pepper, sugar, paper towel holder, toaster, utensil bucket, knife block, misc mail.
I keep the mail under control but only because I throw it on dh junk end table hidden in the corner of the living room where I throw all of his crap! Ugh. At least my counters are usually clean.
We have twice the counter space in the new kitchen than in our old house, but I still feel like it's so cluttered! We have:
A small cup with pens/pencils and a notepad next to it
Bread machine
Sometimes a spead out kitchen towel or drying rack for hand washed dishes
Knife block
Toaster
Kitchen aid mixer
Crock with spatulas, spoons, whisk, etc.
Spinning spice rack
Paper towel roll/holder
Keurig
And sometimes my purse...

We have:
Our knife block
Tassimo
Napkin holder
Toaster, and beside it our kettle that never gets used.
That's it! (Right now there is a bunch of Christmas stuff lance stuck there to keep out of Wyatt's reach, but by the end of the week it will be gone)
Ok, I'm glad it's not just me with a bunch of stuff on the counters. I would love to be able to put the coffee pot away because DH doesn't even use it during the week, and I don't drink coffee, but we really have no where else to put it. We do have one of those dish drying mats too, covered with clean dishes, and we can definitely get better at putting the dishes away in a more timely fashion...
I second the PIP of the kitchen spaces!
I have a ton of stuffon the counter, but it never feels too cluttered to me. I have a U shaped counter top so it ends u[ leaving me with decent work space still
Keurig
K-cups carosel
toaster
electric can opener
crockpot (just because I don't have any place else to put it)
4 canisters - for sugar, four, etc.
salt & pepper shakers
spice rack/carosel
knife block
blender (again, no place else for it)
fruit bowl
cutting board
I also have a space on the far side of the sink for cookbooks, incoming mail, outgoing bills, and a basket to toss junk into.
Main kitchen:
Coffee maker
Knife block
Bottle drying rack
Nespresso machine
In our pantry which is more of an additional kitchen area:
Kitchenaid mixer
Dog treat container
IPod player
I'm very thankful to have a larger kitchen. I've actually taken half of the storage in the island to put tons of that "counter stuff". On the counter I have:
cookbooks
wine rack (priorities ladies...)
Knife block
pepper grinder
canisters
coffee pot
tray with tea box, suger and creamer
on the island I normally have a big bowl of fruit and a candle
