Isla Belle was born at 2:02 this morning! She was 7lb 10oz and 20" long.
After cleaning the house and trying to get tired, I went to bed around 12:30. Shortly after I started having a couple contractions, but wasn't sure if they were the real thing yet. I'd spent the last couple of weeks waiting for those contractions, and now I just wanted them to go away! At 1:00, my water broke in a huge gush. I called my OB and he said to get to the hospital ASAP.
We were out the door by 1:15 and at the hospital by 1:30. At this point the contractions were pretty strong and right on top of each other. My OB said that without the amniotic fluid, we couldn't try to flip her, so they started to prep me for the OR. I told them that I was getting the feeling to push, but I was trying my best not to. I was checked for dilation and was fully dilated.
There were so many nurses and doctors running around as I got to the OR. I was wheeled in at 2:00. I had one last contraction that I could not hold back on, and my OB gave me the go ahead to push. One strong push and Isla was born butt first! Thankfully she was about a pound less than E, so she fit better even though she came out breech. I do have a 1st degree tear, but it's much better than last time.
After all the worrying about a c-section, I ended up being in labor for an hour and 15 minutes, and was able to get her out naturally. My fear is that the next kid is not going to be born in the hospital! Had we not seen my OB yesterday to know what was going on, we may not have been in as big of a rush to get to the hospital. I can't imagine what would have happened if my water had broken during the day at work or something!
Thanks for all the thoughts and well wishes yesterday! She is nursing and sleeping like a champ, and we're both doing great!
Re: Isla Belle is here!
How exciting! Congratulations!
love is for every her, love is for every him, love is for everyone
Congrats!
I LOVE her name!
That's wonderful!
Side bar: I think doctors freak out way too much about breech births and seem to automatically assign a c-secton. Having them normally is perfectly doable (and safe) for many women, which you have proved! You go girl!
Congrats! What a story! Butt first is hilarious!
Glad all is going well, mama of 2!
