anniversary party?

I ask you ladies a few days ago about where to host the party. I want to thank you for the great ideas. I am now trying to decide upon a theme or color ideas.

I hosted/coordinated  her 60th birthday party in August 2011 and i did a theme of yellow/white "Daisy" she loves daisies and her favorite color is yellow. She loved it! I  know her wedding was yellow and I'm not sure what kind of flowers she used in her wedding. I don't think it was daisy. I don't want to repeat the same party theme. Should i go with the yellow again(make it look like her wedding) and use the same kind of flower from her wedding:whatever it might be when i find out.

Give me your ideas and suggestions.

Re: anniversary party?

  • Curious, does your stepson have a name?

  • What time of year are you talking about? I'd likely make use of seasonal flowers. If there is a favorite flower, I'd try to incorporate that, but not necessarily make it the whole theme. You could also do balloons. My grandparents had a balloon arch and centerpieces at their 50th anniversary party.

The 40th Anniversary is the "ruby" anniversary. You could go with red glass vases as centerpieces, if you wanted to play up that symbol / theme.

What was their wedding song? That may provide theme inspiration for your party.

Is it going to be a surprise party? If not, you could ask your parents' input on any theme... color- or otherwise.

  • thank you for your ideas asf619..i might incorporate the "Ruby" symbol. Also i will be looking into the "song" that might give me good ideas. It is going to be a surprise so i can't ask them to much. but at least i have a few aunts and grandfather who should be able to shed me some good info.

:: waves :: Hi, Pam! I didn't even notice the ticker until you said this.

Back to the point of the thread - I love the idea of the Ruby theme, if you don't want it to be too similar to her birthday party. You could do red and gold (and easily mix in some yellow with the gold).

Other options - doing a table for each big event in their lives. A table with wedding pics, same flowers they had, etc. Another one for the birth/life of each child and maybe their birth stone color, or favorite flower. Pictures of houses or towns they lived in, or their favorite vacations.

  • Wow, I really like that idea you have AmyRI. Thanks so much. I think i will make different areas/tables of special events in their lives.

  • Abeaver: To your question "No" we are still TTC. Hoping it happens soon. Someone else asked me if my stepson has a name, well of course he does, the reason i don't have his name, is due to his mom not allowing me to post his name on the internet. so i am respecting her wishes.
