Gift for baptism - I am the godmother

Any ideas for my three month old niece getting baptized? Dh and I are the godparents and we would love to buy her something special. Doesn't have to be super expensive or big.

TIA!

Re: Gift for baptism - I am the godmother

  • If you want it to be religious you could do traditional--cross

We tend to do more modern, and do a nice bracelet (it is a modern charm bracelet) with one charm that has the date of the baptism. It clearly is more of an heirloom piece but our goddaughter loves that now she can start wearing it (kinda) at 3.

  • As a parent, I would also appreciate a children's bible or a collection of bible stories...something that can be part of our reading routine.
  • DH is his niece's godfather and for her baptism we got her an engraved piggy bank as a symbol of her bigger gift.  We opened her an e-trade account and bought her one share of stock.  And now, for every birthday, holiday, etc., we buy her another share of stock, or add a little bit of money to it.  And when she's 18, she'll have something for college or whatever.  I know, a bit non-traditional, but we wanted a lasting gift.

Thank you guys for the ideas!

We ended up doing an engraved piggy bank. I figure we will contribute to her college fund every year and this is a great first gift.
