Man oh man, I love this stuff.  Even if it makes me cry onto my fudge.

PARMA, Ohio -- Five-year-old Jordyn Thwing requested only one gift from Santa this year: He asked to see his soldier dad in time for Christmas.

"Could you bring my dad home?" Jordyn asked Santa at a photo booth in the Parmatown Mall on Friday.

Santa then worked his magic. He threw some silver dust and -- voila! U.S. Army Sgt. Benjamin Thwing was suddenly standing next to Santa, the boy and his mom.

The boy was startled. He smiled and hugged his dad.

"I didn't expect anything like this," said Jordyn, a student at Watterson-Lake Elementary School. "I'm happy that he's home for Christmas. That's just three days away."

Thwing was stationed for 2 1/2 months for training at Camp Shelby in Mississippi. He will be deployed to Afghanistan next month to serve his first tour there.

"I'm still shaking," Thwing, 33, said after holding his son. "I'm really happy that I now get to see his little face in person."

Thwing flew from Mississippi into Cleveland Hopkins International Airport after noon Friday. He went straight to the mall, where Jordyn and his mom, like many other families, waited in line to get a picture taken with Santa.

Thwing waited until it was his son's turn to sit on Santa's lap. Then the man in the red suit used the help of the mall crew to bring in the boy's dad.

Jennifer Aleshire-Thwing, Jordyn's mom, had arranged for the mall rendezvous with her husband last week.

On Friday, she fought back tears as she watched their son. The Cleveland couple have been together for 15 years.

"They're happy tears," said Ale shire-Thwing, 31. "I could tell by my son's face that he was shocked. His 'faith in Santa Claus just went up."

Thwing will miss Jordyn's 6th birthday Jan. 5. But for now, that's not a problem for the boy.

"He's awesome," Jordyn said. "He's here. I'm really happy."
