I'm just gonna sew my lips shut
My boss brought her bulldog in to work today. She has 2 bulldogs and paid $8000 total for both.
And now she's talking to a patient about how horrible pit bulls are. At least she did throw in a small mention of how it could be the owners' fault.
Re: I'm just gonna sew my lips shut
$8,000 - that's just craziness!
It reminds me of DH's aunt and uncle and their rag doll cats.
Well, you could always forward her this article:

Whoa.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE bulldogs, and will have one someday. I've known a few people who have had them, and who went through reputable breeders to get them. They are not cheap dogs. They can go for up to $2000, from what I've heard.
But that's because bulldogs can't give birth vaginally - they must have a c-section. Their little heads are too big for the birth canal. So there are high costs associated with breeding them. (According to shows I've seen on Animal Planet.)
Back before we adopted Miller, I looked in to bulldog rescues, thinking of maybe going through one of them to adopt a bulldog. Most of them want prior bulldog experience, which is hard to get unless you get one from a breeder.
However, I would NEVER go around telling people how much my dog(s) cost. Especially if it was that much money.
And I'll keep mum on the pit bull issue.
Only because there are enough idiots around who will pay too much for a poorly bred dog.
this particular one tore her ACL when she was 8 months old. She's 4 1/2 now. My boss thought it was too expensive to fix it so she has just been doing therapy on it herself (she's a PT).
Seriously. The surgery cost less than half of what the dog cost and you won't do it??

Fortunately, besides all of this excessive spending of cash, and the fact that she wears Ed Hardy & Juicy Couture on a regular basis (at over 40) I like her.
