**KatiesCats** or other greyhound girls

Do you know if Ohio greyhound rescues will adopt to Indiana? Someone I'm in nursing school with is thinking about rescuing a greyhound. She's still in the research phase, so she hasn't decided yet, but I thought I could point her to some rescue websites and see if I could get any info on adopting out of state.

TIA!

Re: **KatiesCats** or other greyhound girls

  • Our rescue (Team Greyhound Adoption of Ohio) does not adopt out of state, except in extraordinary cases (usually to previous adopters who have moved and want another dog from us).

GPA Indy is a great group.  Their website is here.  I'd say that would be a good place to start.  They keep their dogs in foster homes, which is great.  Some of the larger groups keep their dogs in kennels, which is just not what I prefer.  Not from a humane perspective, but just from an adaptation to the real world perspective.

I can't remember where you are exactly, but there are also several groups in the Cincinnati area that are awesome.  Joey's Greyhound Friends comes to mind, and you can also look through rescue groups at this website.

Let me know if you have any more questions.  This is really exciting!  Greyhounds are awesome :)

  • Thank you! I didn't realize there were some greyhound rescues in Indy. We're in the Evansville area, so a trip to Indy or Cinci either one wouldn't be too bad.

I was so excited when she said she might want a greyhound! They have a little house, so she was worried about making sure she got a breed that does well in smaller spaces, so I asked her if she ever thought about adopting a greyhound and she said, "I've ALWAYS wanted one! I just thought they'd need lots of room!" lol

Thanks again for the info! I hope she settles on a greyhound. I'm trying to convince DH that that's what our next dog should be, but he's never met one, so he's still not sure. I will convince him! Even though it will probably be years  before we get another dog. :)

All it too was one meet & greet with the local greyhound rescue and DH fell in love with the breed. It's impossible not to love them once you meet one!
