Maybe you guys can help me out with this.
My 3.5 year old has picked up a stupid and gross bad word at school. I guess it's from one of his friends, as it is not something that we have ever said at home and I even had to ask a friend what it meant the first time he said it.
So far we've tried ignoring it - it's now been 3 weeks and that obviously didn't work.
Next we tried telling him that it's a bad word and not to say it - that just makes it more fun for him!
On Wednesday he got his mouth washed out with soap - after I warned him I would do it and he kept repeating the words anyways. That didn't even make him make a gross face - I used baby soap, so maybe it isn't disgusting enough.
The past 2 days I've been telling him to say Skinny Marink instead, it's a fun word to say and then he can sing too. So far also not working.
Anything else I can try?
Re: @ Bad words from a toddler
Cod liver oil. The liquid version. That stuff is nasty. Won't give him the runs like soap could.
Take away something every time he says it. Even if you have to take away everything. Gets one item back for every time unit (of your choice) that he does not say it.
Great idea UK!
I have some cool car stickers that I can use. We've never tried this kind of thing before, I'll let you ladies know if it works!
Agree.

LOL, the word is caca boudain.
He uses the word caca to say when he has to poo, but mixed with boudain it really bugs me and he calls H and I that, so to him it is meant to be an insult.
BTW, I explained the sticker chart and even printed out a calendar and told him I would take a toy away every time he said it... so far so good and he seemed to understand. Fingers crossed this works!
