There are cockroaches in our apartment!!!
We just moved into this new place in November. Then we left for the holidays for two months. I just got back to SA yesterday. DH is still traveling. He won't be back for two weeks!! I'm alone with them!
I bought those bait things but they say it can take up to two weeks to see results! So for now it's just making more of them come out!
Tomorrow I'm pouring borax everywhere I can think of. And I'm bleaching and vacuuming the entire house. But for now I cannot even walk into the kitchen to get something to drink. I would rather die of thirst.
Thank all that is good in the world I have not seen one in the living room or bedroom. I'm already not eating, drinking, or showering. For now, my only relief is sleep. And that will most likely be with the lights on.
This apartment building is really nice; meticulously so. The lawns are perfect. The tenants are like nazis in terms of hanging laundry, parking cars, and the condition of your front door. And our landlord who was living her before us is totally OCD neat. I won't even use the coffee table without a coaster in fear that she'll notice when we move out.
It's this stupid city. I've never seen a cockroach in my life until I came here. You see them everywhere on the streets and I've seen them in more than one restaurant already.
Oh God, I don't want to go to sleep....

Gross! I despise bugs!
But Bluegirl is right. Its not because your house is dirty. We get the really big ones here in the summer and they are awful. Mostly they are outside, but once in a while they slip inside and I freak out! I either make DH deal with it or if unfortunately he is not home I use about half a can of bug spray on it. They are so so gross!
Can you get a can of spray, like Raid or something?
LOL, H keeps telling me I'm not supposed to drown them, just spray them.
Aside from my exterminator becoming my BFF down here, we also use Baygon barrier spray. It is an extra layer of insurance for my "no-bug" mentality
Oh yes! I forgot that we use the outdoor spray as well.
I'm sure I just jinxed myself and will start seeing things as soon as DH goes to work this arvo. Lol
This. I hope you can get them taken care of!
Ha! I was thinking of your Aussie ladies when I was writing this. I knew you guys would be sympathetic to my the struggle with "wildlife."
I kept telling myself the bugs are better than a snake in the house!
Urgh, hate cockroaches. I had never seen one before moving to Vietnam. They were huge and flew!
Agreed with bluegirl, it's not because it's dirty, it's just normal in tropical heat.
We usually sprayed Raid near all the entrances and drains (they would sometimes come up the drainpipes into the sink or bathtubs). I remember my first "war" with a cockroach when H was away, I didn't have any Raid so I used his shaving cream. It worked really well!
Also don't squish them, I've heard that their eggs spread if you do.
