Reflective gear/ running and night with dogs
Do you walk or run your dog in the dark? Do you use a reflective leash, a reflective harness, something else or nothing? I've been sort of in the "nothing" camp but I'd like to have a little something to keep them more visible.
Any products you would recommend? Thanks!

Re: Reflective gear/ running and night with dogs
I've used various things over the years.
I Velcro two of these together around his neck.
I got a blinky that hung from his collar (it broke shortly after I got it...my fault).
This safety vest...it's OK, but not very durable. It ripped a little too easily (the Velcro is really strong, and the orange mesh isn't), and it didn't stay centered on Cal's back...it would twist around his body.
I still haven't found a solution that I really love.
My Lunch Blog
We do, I probably wear too much but it drives me nuts when we come up on people w/o any reflective or lights on themselves or their animals in the dark! They are always wearing dark colors too! Its just dangerous!!
I always wear a headlamp, we have this one. It works awesome, has a wide berth of light, & its really nice not to have to physically hold a flashlight in my hand (esp when you are running, but also b/c your hands are already full of leash(es)).
I also have a couple of these which you can use anywhere & for 10 things. I wrap them around my forearm (either over a coat or shirt or whatever), loop one through the backside of my knee brace so that cars catch a reflector from behind, & I've looped one through a dog collar (so that it hangs down in front of them, then oncoming traffic will see it) when we have other doggies w/us (we dogsit a lot)
For our dog, we have a red light that attaches to his collar, it has the option to either be on all the time, or flashing. In the bitter cold winter he has this jacket, which has reflectives along the sides
We got everything @ REI, but we were just @ Gander Mtn this weekend & saw that they had variations of the exact same things. Everything was relatively inexpensive also. You can find a bunch of things on REI's website that are reflective, & you don't necessarily have to use them for what they are "meant" for.
I did just buy some running clothes for winter that had some reflectives built into them, pants, gloves, & a headband & pretty much all tennis shoes have some reflective on them nowadays.
There are leashes you can buy w/reflectives &/or lights built into them. I just Googled reflective dog leash & got a bunch of hits. I know I've seen a braided reflective one @ Walmart for like $7.

It costs under $5 and works great. They also have a toddler size which fits on my pugs great so I have them wear one too if I need them to.

They make led collars that are reflexive and have three settings with the light that can stay solid, slow blink or fast blink..
DH just got it for me for xmas and I love it. I'll have to ask him where he found it.
They also make reflective leashes-which is what I use, along with a blinking light that's on our pup. I also have an arm band (that I put on my wrist since it won't work over a thicker jacket) that blinks and is reflective.
And a small tactile flashlight!
Stay safe!
