Hey nesties. DH and I are interested in buying a vacation home and Wilmington came up as a great place to buy right now. We are not very familiar with Wilmington, so I thought I would see if anyone here could lead us in the right direction. We are looking for a beach community where we could rent out the place when we are not using it, condo, town home, or house. I saw Carolina Beach, Wrightsville Beach, and Kure Beach. Is one better than the other? Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA!
Re: Wilmington info needed
I went to UNCW and lived in Wilmington for 4 years. Wrightsville is more populated and more expensive. It's a smaller island. It's where most people in Wilmington go to the beach. I prefer it to Carolina or Kure beach. You will get more rent for a house at Wrightsville but you will pay a lot more for the house also.
Caroline and Kure beach are further from Wilmington and more family orientated. Personally I don't like the feel of those beaches as much as others. I haven't been in a few years but when I last went they felt run down. If I want to go to quieter beach then I prefer Oak Island or Ocean Isle.
Wrightsville is heavily populated during the summertime. We tend to stay away from there because it is so crowded and parking is ridiculous. Carolina & Kure have actually gotten much nicer than they used to be. They've worked hard to try to get rid of the "trashy" image they used to have.
They are more family oriented, as there is more to do there with your families than at WB. At CB and KB, you have the Aquarium, Ft. Fisher and amusement rides.
You will also pay a bit more to own a house at WB. And I just noticed you wrote this post over a week ago, so you may not come back to it.
GL with your decision!
