Help! I got a new camera..

for xmas but need helping using it.  It is a Nikon 3100.  I have followed steps online for setting the aperture and everything for different focuses but it just whites out.. the manual isn't much help.  How do I learn to use my new camera?

Re: Help! I got a new camera..

  • I got a DVD with my Nikon D3100.  I haven't had time to watch it yet, but maybe you could find some tutorials on the internet, maybe on you tube...I've had mine since August - just using Auto for now until I have time to learn all of its features.

  • This camera is really good, I took the wedding dress is very good, very simple.
  • There are also many good books available for this specific camera. And like a PP mentioned - check out the DVD.You can also try finding a digital photography class available in your area.

Other than that play around with the camera. If the images are coming out white then keep the aperture where it is and play around with just the shutter speed. Or try it the other way around.
