Thank you.

Note: This only affects The Nest's community members and will not affect members on The Bump or The Knot.

Please tell me none of you do this.

Saw this on a friend's facebook wall.  Apparently someone has made a facebook profile for her dog and it types things like this (it was a link to sign a petition related to animal abuse):

pweeze hewp dem!  woo NOT wan be in dere pwace!  we beed so bwessed wif awe gweat momz so we shoo hewp dem!  aaaaaw!

I don't know who this dog belongs to, but the facebook page is even worse.  I wouldn't normally link to a facebook page, but since this doesn't belong to a real person...here it is:

Zoey Sassyfras

I think I sprained my eyes from all of the involuntary eye rolling that came about from reading this bullshhit.

Re: Please tell me none of you do this.

  • LOL!!

I dont think I'd be able to switch back and forth from my login to an animal login. I'd b!tch about work or something under my hypothetical cat page and update "I threw up on the bed again" for the cat on my FB page. It's just too much. LOL.

  • I spent way too much time trying to figure out what that actually said.

  • A friend of mine has a FB page for her pit bull, and has kept it going, even though he recently passed away. He was rescued from a fight ring at age 14 (he was a bait dog) and became a breed ambassador and therapy dog, and she continues to post educational updates and links under his name.
  • my neighbor does.

the dog's page is categorized in FB as 'public figure'

  • I'm still not sure what the majority of the page said....

I will admit, Benny (our rabbit) does have a facebook page, it was mostly because I've never met a rabbit with a personality like his and everyone got a good kick out of it. Honestly, I never update it and I forget about it most of the time - and I may or may not use it to "cheat" at some FB games :)

And by all means - I DO NOT use baby talk no one can read....

  • wook! i beed a pitty wittle girl in dis pixer...wike oney dist a pew mumps ode!....my mom sayed i musta beed wunnin in my seep!....i fink i musta beed goneen pitty FASSSSST!!!

  • Hellz no. IMO having a Facebook acct for your pet is riding the line into crazy-dog/cat-lady territory.
  • I do not understand a word of that.

  • i know sooooo many people on FB who do that.  I don't understand

  • Well, Gloria does have a blog, but she knows how to use spell check and gramatically sound sentence structure.

Though, I think this provides some insight into why pet stores are starting to sell puppies out of cradles.  I can't believe she put that poor dog in a baby diaper.

  • I don't but I can tell you I know why people make pages for their animals...some of my friends have done it. They all play Fb games and need more friends for games and to send themselves things so they make pages for their animals. I have never seen anyone post something like that though.

  • I don't think there's anything wrong with having a Facebook page for your pet. But if you're typing out baby talk, in virtually any context, you're wrong.

July 3rd, 2012 ~ Hang in there sweetheart, we can't wait to meet you!

  • I give up. What does that say? Is that supposed to be English in the voice of the dog's voice? Really? That person needs to get a better hobby.

You will forever be my best friend. I can almost feel our hugs. I will ensure everyone will know (now and in the future) what a genuine, kind, loving person you were...I already miss your laughter and our daily conversations. I love you, Samantha. May 20, 1983- February 20, 2012

Please help them! You don't want to be in their place. We are so blessed with a great mom so we should help them.

  • I think Miss Sassyfras needs to find a good editor/interpreter.

Me neither.  And I've always said - if your dog is smart enough to work a computer keyboard, they are probably smart enough to spell correctly.

And this is one instance that I would NOT put myself up for an editing job! Holy f-balls! That is taking LOLspeak (ie, LOL cats on the Cheezburger sites) to a whole new and unintelligible level!! Ack!! Whoever owns the dog must have a pretty poor grasp on grammar/spelling to start with to so completely mutilate those words!
