Re: San Antonio, TX??

  • Will you have a rental car? Where are you staying? San Antonio weather can be pretty random this time of year. I'd just check the weather a day or two before you leave. It can be anywhere from Rainy and 40 to sunny and 70.

Some good places to eat are Biga on the Banks (river walk) and Paloma Blanca.

  • Thanks for the response and recs!  Yes, we will have a rental car.  Not sure exactly where we are staying but it is near the River Walk....

  • Make sure to do a Riverwalk cruise! I also highly recommend Biga on the Banks.
  • I recommend the Missions National Park (Alamo is one of them). If you want to experience Texas country dancing then go to Cowboys. They have free dance lessons on Thursday night. http://www.cowboysdancehall.com/San-Antonio/
  • There was a freak ice storm when I was in San Antonio in January a few years ago (maybe 2007?).  I was not at all prepared, and wore the same sweater I'd brought to wear on the plane the entire weekend.  So make sure you check the weather before you go and plan accordingly :)

We really liked Boudros for lunch/dinner, it's right on the River Walk.  The Menger Hotel bar is also pretty cool.  None of the other places we went to particularly stuck out, but I don't think we had any bad meals either.

  • Make sure you eat at Caso Rio on the River Walk. Great food and location on the river walk.

The above site is very helpful. The Iron Cactus has great ritas and tex-mex.

The Fig Tree has excellent steaks and wine.

I would def. stay on the riverwalk for the views and prepare to walk alot.

    Have fun!
