I know this has been asked before but I can't seem to find it.
I was wondering if anyone had experience with private insurance. We currently have coverage but it is TERRIBLE so I wanted to check out our options. Currently just DH and DS need insurance. But I'll be added to the equation come October.
Where have you guys had good luck with? We are all in good health, no preexisting conditions, no smoking, etc
Also- do you know of any that have maternity coverage? I'm not pregnant- but would like to be in the future. So just want to check out my options.
TIA.
Re: Private Insurance
Lots of girls on this board, including me (for DH/DS) have used ehealthinsurance.com to compare and find the right policy for us.
We ended up going with a BCBCTX Blue Edge plan with HSA for DH/DS (DD will be added too). So far, I've had no complaints. The "family" deductible is $2400 so we've never met it but the premiums are much lower than DH's previous policy and lower than what it would cost for me to cover DH.
My DH works with individual insurance - I can send you his info if you're interested, just PM me your e-mail.
I don't know of any individual insurance company who will cover maternity. There used to be one, but they had an additional $5k deductible just for the maternity. I don't think that company does it anymore though.

Yeah, this is what we found too.
They don't. I really really hope that this changes in the future.
someone just told me about this. It does cover pregnancy (as a pre existing condition BUT you cannot have had ANY insurance for 6 months prior to enrolling). It's new. The deductable is 1000 or 2000 depending on the plan you choose. The premium is around 200-300. Not bad at all. Only kicker is not having ins for 6mos prior. Pretty sure this is the only policy that will over pregnancy right now aside from group insurance or govt help.

This is what we found, too. Thank goodness DH can get insurance through work now because for a while we were concerned I'd have to keep working only for us to be able to have insurance (since maternity coverage is non-negotiable for me).
