Beautiful tribute to racing greyhounds

I've seen this a million times, but something made me pull it up again today.  OMG the tears!

It's a song written about racers, and how they are hoping for homes from the day they're born.  Grab a tissue...seriously!

I'm not usually a sucker for things like this, but it's a really well done song, and the video features dogs adopted by our rescue group.  I get all weepy thinking of the racing dogs who don't know how wonderful real life is, and how much love someone could be giving them.

Since the day I was born

I?ve been running for a living

So put your money down, as I go at it alone

Cuz I can?t go home

I can?t go home

My friends have gone away

Families have come and they?ve gone

They never stay too long, they go where the wind has blown

Cuz I can?t go home

I can?t go home

Oh, I?m dreaming of a bed

Shades letting in the sun

A place where I can stay, where I can spend my days

I know it?s out there

I had a dream one day

I was running ?round in circles

And then I jumped so high that I left everything behind

To find my home

To find my home

Oh, I know it?s not too far

The race is almost won

More and more each day, we?re finding our way

I?m right behind you

Since the day I was born

I?ve been dreaming of their faces

Here I am today, lying face down in the shade

I?m not running anymore

I?m not running anymore

I?ve found my home

I?ve found my home

  • All choked up!

It was the end that got me...the pictures of dogs who had found their homes and whose "race is over."

  • And now I want a greyhound....if only I could afford to adopt a second dog. :(  They are truly beautiful animals.
