So what's new with everyone?
I know we have some babies coming soon and lots of great projects that everyone is working on. Want to share yours? What's new and exciting in your life? Learning anything new? Tell us something you're looking forward to in the next few months.
Re: So what's new with everyone?
That sounds great, A. Let me know how it goes with the knitting! I'm a knitting-class drop-out, so I only know how to make very boring scarves :P Maybe after you learn everything, you can teach me something new. I would love to make some blankets or baby things for friends as gifts.
What's new and exciting in my life... not much at the moment. There is something that may potentially be exciting/good news soon but I'm not ready to discuss it yet. Sorry to be cryptic. I am looking forward to some friends' birthday parties in the next few months though and a potential trip to Lake McClure in June with DH and his family. I've never been there.
New and exciting.....let's see. We renovated our downstairs bathroom. DH did most of the work and it looks great!!! Wayyyy better than before.
Im really loving my job, although it's only temporary right now. (I'm subbing for a high school counselor where I interned last year during grad school). There's a possibility I could get hired on for next year-fingers crossed!!!
DH and I are talking more about starting a family. Although its scary, I'm really excited and hoping all goes well. (not happening just yet, but in the near future).
Spent a nice weekend in Seattle with my sister. Aside from a little scuffle with my sis, it was a really nice time.
Life is good! Just enjoying it, really.
I am going back to work next week full time after nearly a year of maternity leave. This is consuming me in every way b/c I have been getting ready mentally, emotionally for DS to go to daycare.
I have decided that 2012 has to be a great year of personal and professional growth, and I really want to present at the NZ hospital pharmacy conference again this year...and hopefully win a prize
My mantra for the upcoming months: BALANCE.
I'm really pumped for 2012. I feel like I have been telling everyone this, and I'm sorry if it's a repeat, but I'm graduating in May. Finally. It will have been 6 years, but I'll finally be getting my BA. I'm also applying for the credential program in March, which I am really nervous for. It's not that I don't want to do it, it just really overwhelms me, so I'm trying to just relax and let things fall into place.
I love my job, even though sometimes I feel like it's more than I can handle. I work with high school students in a mentoring kind of position. It's a government job, so like 80% of what I do is paperwork, which takes tons of time. I'm kind of excited because my boss keeps bumping me up. I started there 2 years ago with only 8 students, and this month I am up to 25.
I'm also excited for Nick and my 5 year wedding anniversary in Oct. I know it's quite a long ways off, but I'm hoping that we can really do something special for it.
I guess besides meeting my baby boy... I'm sooo looking forward to getting back to running half marathons and running races again. This year is going to be challenging for me as there will be lots of change and not working for 4 months. I'm excited of course.
Lots of projects in the mix too. We hope to remodel our backyard soon and then I still have decorating and house projects to tackle.
Oh and I can't wait for some red wine.

I am STOKED beyond words to be going back to Japan on the 21st and that C is coming home soon after. STOKED!!! We're planning like a week-long private recluse party where we're going to shut ourselves off from the outside world in our house, fuel ourselves with margaritas and our favorite meals, play games, watch movies, and get back on the baby making train!
Then after our hibernation we're gonna take a trip down to Kyoto since we've never been there. That should be fun!
So for now I'm soaking up the last few days with friends and family here. I'll be sad to leave everyone, but my goodness- I am ready to go home!!
It's gonna be a GOOOOD year, I can feel it!!!
Our Ohio house is finally selling. So that means that after the dust settles from that, we will be able to start looking for a new house! Yay for the home-buying process!
We have also considered trying to have a kid this year, but in this tiny little place, it doesn't seem practical, so we will probably put that off until after we're settled in a new house. Next year, most likely. This is a-ok with me.
Not much is new here. Work is picking up so I am busy here. Dh and I have casually been house hunting in the east bay, but honestly nothing has really "wow'ed" us yet. This is our last 6 months living in SF so I am going to try and make the most of it.
We bought tickets to spring training in March to watch the Giants, so that will be a nice little getaway for us. Then, this summer we will be in Tahoe for a week vacation with my family. Can't wait!
Hi there!
Nothing new. I passed my 2nd certification test with flying colors.
Work is good. Kind of slow and boring however, I am trying to make the most of it.
Just enjoying being a homeowner. We plan to put together a garden and our backyard soon!
Congrats on HM training. I am trying to do 12 in 2012-a race in each month however, it is getting $$ so I may have to do one every other month.
After 6 years, DH and I got a new couch, which is being delivered in 2 weeks. I'm so stoked! I know it sounds small, but we've had two couches in 6 years and both have been Goodwill finds and broken.
I've decided to make some changes with my life, and one of them is developing the habit of eating WAY better than we were and eating dinner at the table as a family. I want to teach my daughter that eating right is the best thing and I learned by example as a kid, hence why I'm a little heavier. To me, it's one thing to tell a child to eat right, but it's a totally different thing to teach them by showing them. I also remember as a kid having my Dad, Mom and I eat at the dinner table together every night and it was a time for us to connect as a family at the end of the day. I loved those memories, and I want Scarlett to have those experiences as well. DH likes to watch TV while eating, and I'm trying to get him to join me at the table more and more.
I have gotten back into reading again thanks to my kindle. I just plowed through the Hunger Games series and now can't wait to see the movie.
I am hoping to have a new family member by springtime, so my goal is to do some major house cleaning to prepare. It tortures me to get updates about kitties from ARF and CC4C because I really want to adopt a kitty now.
I totally know what you mean, Lolo! I have never had a new couch before, either, and I can't wait for the day when I get to buy one! Be sure to post a PIP when it comes!
DH started a new job which has cut his commute in half. What a HUGE difference that makes!
Q's great and we've gotten him to *almost* totally stop sucking his thumb...which I thought would be quite a feat since he sucked both thumbs and seemed to have one in his mouth about 75% of the time.
I'm taking a riveting online class on aural rehabilitation right now during "winter term" (aka winter BREAK for most people). It's good I suppose to keep my brain in study mode, but I'd rather get an actual break!
I'll be starting my last semester of full-time coursework later this month. I'll be taking classes on cognition, motor speech and fluency (stuttering) and beginning my first child clinic. Next year I'll just have my externships and a couple of classes so this will be my last semester of seeing my classmates on a regular basis, which I'm sure will be bittersweet.
I'm hoping to have some more news to come soon! Other than that just plugging away at school, and house projects.
