Someone sell me on Pinterest - update - invite please :)

Having seen enough of you post about it (and yet being too lazy to check it out myself).  Will someone please tell me why pinterest will change my life for the better?  Thanks!

Okay, I'm sold. Can someone invite me?

  • Okay... well first of all I'm going to warn you it's VERY ADDICTING!

    That being said:

    - I love having pinterest, now whenever I see something cool online that I like I pin it to a board/category and then when I need the idea I know where to go to find it instead of having to hunt for it.

    - Lots of great ideas: Meals, crafts, decorating, etc.

    My Blog
  • I used to be really crafty and artsy. I did paintings and drawings all the time in high school and crafted all kinds of things for myself and friends. Decoupage, cards, canvas, etc.

Then college started and I just stopped. Didn't have time, new change of pace in my lifestyle and it was something that didn't get picked back up. During wedding planning, I got sorta back into some stuff with DIY, but after the wedding was over it promptly dropped back off. Even my 4 months as a SAHW and puppy mom didn't get me back into crafting or art. And I tried. I bought supplies, I thought of projects, they just never happened.

I finally started reading for pleasure again in 2011. Yet another thing that college had put a halt to for whatever reason. Don't ask me why I correlate these things, reading and crafting, but I do. Once I started reading again, I remembered how much I loved crafting and art and how badly I wanted to kick the mental block and get into it again. I bought more supplies (I mean, I bought books, and I read! It should work, right?). No projects were made.

Then Pinterest came into my life. At first I was like "OMG PIN ALL THE THINGS!" And then over time, it became more inspirational for me. Most of boards are dream ones, like with plans for the backyard or home decor or Harry Potter. But then I have some crafty ones. As Christmas got closer, I decided to make most of my gifts. AND I DID. It was awesome. And it's because of Pinterest inspiration. Christmas is over and I'm already planning out more projects. Seriously, happy happy happy.

So obviously Pinterest isn't just about crafting. I have also found some of the best recipes EVER on there. And it's just fun/relaxing. I am on Pinterest more than Facebook these days.

  • I like pinterest mainly for the fact that it's essentially "bookmarking" a page, but you have a picture and mini blurb about why you pinned it. As a super forgetful person, this has helped immensely in finding the things I wanted to remember like recipes or projects.

Bonus points have been awarded for being able to get ideas for my future classroom, window shop, and find massive amounts of really funny pictures/memes all in the same place.

  • Pretty much exactly what Nicole said. It feels good to have a spot for creative and crafty inspiration, and Pinterest fueled 100% of my Christmas crafts gifts.

I'm also using Pinterest to help us build our house. It's a fantastic source for finish ideas, especially if you have trouble picturing the final product. I sent M the link to my board for that and he can look and get an idea as to what details he wants to include in the building plans.

  • I love it. I had a whole board dedicated to ideas on Maggie's playroom. There were multiple ideas from so many different places. It was awesome to see it all come together.

I love to bake, but have so little time. I have gotten some amazing baking and cooking recipes off of there. It is so nice to have them all saved in one place.

Currently, I have a board dedicated to Maggie's 2nd birthday party (early I know). It is a great place for me to store ideas and give me a head start on what I need to buy so I can look for deals.

Lastly, it is a great place to share ideas. Like I can see recipes everyone else has found and just pin them to my board for future use.
