I posted about the deaths and illnesses associated with these treats awhile back, and here's another sad story to serve as a warning:

My MIL was feeding these up until a couple of months ago when I told her about the warnings. I can't believe these things are still on the shelves
Re: Waggin' Train treats cause more death & illness- sad
Here's the FDA warning again: http://www.fda.gov/AnimalVeterinary/NewsEvents/CVMUpdates/ucm280586.htm
Oh my! How did I miss the first post related to this? That is terribly sad, I can't image what those owners are going through.
Also, Gloria has a bag of those exact treats, but I've only feed them to her once because of her sensitive stomach. In the trash they go.
Thank you so much for posting this! As a sceptic, I did my own independent research & concluded that this problem is far wider than suspected & is not getting the media attention it deserves!! Does the Waggin Tail processing kill off the harmful bacteria in the chicken? Maybe...but I'm not willing to take the risk with my dogs health any longer!
I've retruned the bags to Sam's Club & our vet is keeping a close eye on the pups. I've noticed a change in their stool & water consumption over the last 2 mo & now I'm wondering if I've been inadvertly poisoning my dogs!
After some research, I was able to find a replacement right here in America. A husband & wife team started making their own jerky treats since this whole thing started a few YEARS ago. Here's their site if you're interested:

Yet another reason I'm so thrilled H got me a dehydrator for Christmas. We made our own first batch of "jerky" (really just dehydrated beef/chicken) over the weekend.
My mom gives her lab Ol'Roy treats. When I groaned and pulled a face, she said, "Oh she gets like 1 a day; it's fine!"

Barf.
DH got a dehydrator for Christmas, so I'm ready to make some treats! You can also do them in the oven if you don't have a dehydrator, and you'll know that they aren't poisoned!
We did them in the oven a couple of times before. It was so much easier this way! Layer them all on the racks, flip the switch, and let 'em shrivel! Hahaha! They're pretty tough, though, so we need to do fewer strips next time, and more single-bite tidbits. Perfect for training!!

And the treat ball... good idea!!
is it only the one's made in china?
my dog has the wellness brand chicken jerky and it says it is made in the U.S.A
Wellness is a very high-quality pet food producer. The US also has higher standards when it comes to producing things for human consumption. I'm pretty certain Wellness only uses consumer-quality ingredients; meaning anything they use would be approved for human consumption.

Hi everybody,
I hope this isn't considered spamming since I didn't bring up our business here (and I do not know the poster who did above), but I am the owner of TriPom Chews. (Never posted the name on the nest.) We started this business a few years ago because of all the FDA warnings about chicken jerky from China, and finally this last warning the media picked up on it. Thank GOD people are finally starting to realize.
If anybody has any questions about it, feel free to ask/PM me, and if anybody wants some, I could put together a coupon code.I'm not a creepy nest person, been on theknot/nest since 2003!
Just with a different name for awhile!

*Edited because on the way home I realized the above posted mentioned Wellness, and I said it was made in China also. Actually, I was thinking Dogwell, which is a very popular brand that many people are shocked to hear is Chinese made also. Sorry about that!
Hi all,
Long-time lurker jumping in, but I feel sick to my stomach. Just today, I bought and gave our pup a Waggin Trail "Pork Skin Twist with Chicken Liver Center". I thought the ingredients actually looked pretty good (Pork skin, chicken liver, rosemary extract, strawberry and carrot color and "natural preservatives and source of Vitamin E").
I know the treats mentioned about are chicken jerky, but should I induce vomitting?
No, do not induce vomiting. If you're concerned you should call your vet.
