My dad is being reassigned in Chicago, thank god they considered extending him instead of laying him off. He is currently in Atlanta, and their company is downsizing and his last day was suppose to be the 15th I think, that was changed and now he is going to work at their Chicago office. Its the furthest he had to move and the weather is going to be crazy cold, good thing he's a bit used to the cold since he used to work in NC for several years before Atlanta. Its far but my sister works for United Airlines and there's a direct flight from Chicago to Tampa so it'll help with his travel. My mom will be accompanying him and she's used to the cold now too. Anyways, now he's trying to decide if they should drive the car over or just ship it.
Anyone has done this before? if so, what company?
Re: Shipping a car...
My husband paid $550 to ship his Harley from RI to FL. I know its not a car but it doesn't weigh nearly as much as a car. A car is probably extremely expensive. I can't remember the name of the company that he used but here is a website that I found that will offer quotes from several different companies.

We looked at shipping one of our cars from MA to FL. I forget how much it was going to cost, but it was enough that we decided to just make two trips and drive both cars down.
That said, we had left most of our possessions in a storage unit until we figured out where we were going to live, and had we chosen to ship one (or both) of the cars with our belongings it would have been more cost efficient. The mover was going to sub-contract out to a car-shipper at a reduced rate.
