Re: Randoms for Hump Day

  • Charity, forecasts are just educated guesses based on models.  No one knows, which is why there's different information out there.  Get your shovels and boots out because it could be a lot.  On the other hand, it might not be anything big at all.

I think i want to attempt to workout before work. The gym opens at 5. Early morning workouts are no problem for me when it's light and not freezing. hmmm...

This is what I do, well, before class since I'm not working right now.

I don't know if sharing my daily schedule will help you at all since you work and I don't, but since we both commute to the west side on weekends, here is what works for me:

    Wake up by 6:15
    On-campus gym by ~7:20 (I have a 30 minute commute to downtown)
Workout until ~8, then shower and get ready for class at gym
    Earliest class at 9:10
    Finish classes at 3 p.m.
Study until somewhere between 7:30-9 depending on what's due
Usually call H on evening commute (we don't Skype regularly, which works out fine for us)
Lights out no later than 11 p.m.

  • The herb class is foraging and learning about their medicinal properties.

I was recently told that it's better not to drink plain water, that herbal tea is actually better for your metabolism than plain water. I've been drinking a ton now (probably 6 cups a day) and definitely feel better than when I was drinking plain water all day.

  • Thanks Diana.  I work 8-4 so I'd work out 5:30-6:15ish then get on with the rest of my day. Looks like you have a pretty good schedule? Any grades yet? I have 2- waiting on 2 more.

Unfortunately I won't be out to the West side much until April. I have class all weekend. Blech. BUT... 13 weeks to go, and I'm finished forever!

Are you looking for votes for your decision of class vs. netbook?

    Sure :-)

  • Carrying your laptop to and from work everyday is a pain.  But...

You seem to really enjoy this new(ish) part of your self and your knowledge.  You're using it on many levels every day.  I know you to be a person who likes a challenge.

Carry the laptop, go learn more in an intense class.

This might be selfishly motivated, as I like when you pass on what you've learned, but I think the class is the better option.  You'll have no worries about a warranty, and the tech support is probably a lot friendlier w/ continuing your herb education.

Ugh, no grades yet and I hate it.  It is so hard to start a new semester with no idea how I performed.  Also, and you can relate to this, it's a completely different ball game with the mandatory curve and one exam which determines the entire grade.  I've done quite well on Legal Writing assignments, but that is the only feedback I've had on my work and it doesn't necessarily follow that I'll also perform well on exams.

Class all weekend sounds pretty awful.  Although it's probably nice that you are able to work pretty much full time.  And yay at being finished forever so soon!  I already can't wait until I'm there.  How is the job search going?

  • Week 1 of class is complete.  14 weeks to go.

Oh funny story you might all enjoy: my history teacher does not allow laptops in class.  WTF.  So much for buying a laptop for class and for buying e-books.

Ok, so I talked to him about it after class and he said as long as I promise not to be on the internet during class, he will allow it.

    Whew.

I actually like tea a lot more than other drinks. I don't thank I have any herbal tea. I know I have jasmine. I wonder why it is suppose to be better for your metabolism?

I took photos of all of the Christmas ornaments as I put them away.  I plan to put something together with the photo and a sentence or two about the significance of the ornament. Some of them are from Jim's grandparent's collection from when they lived in this house, and some have very specific stories.  My mom gave me a bunch of old family ornaments when Jim and I got married, but I don't remember why some of them are important, and I'd like the kids to have a history.

I thought about making a snapfish photobook up the next time they have a good deal on those, but then next year, we'll have at least 4 new ones, and it'll be dated.  Maybe I'll put it on the blog.  Does anyone have a great idea for me?

What about a flash drive for each child?

Ha ha! Very true, about everything. I am loving this new adventure. And, the tech support has been wonderful so far :-D

  • Sorry non-moms out there for the TMI in this story.

Back from ballet class. The girls looked all cute and were doing great in class. I was watching them a little way back (like 8 ft back). I didn't want to stand right next to the glass window. I turned my back for a moment to look at the class schedule and a worker walks up to me and says "oh there you are, your little girl needs in you in there." I walked in the room and the teachers says "she had a accident." I figuredi t was Mia and she just went in her pants a bit, but no it was Allison. She was standing in a puddle. She had her first true accident out in public. I have no idea why that happened, we never had any issue.

Bless the teacher, she was so nice about it and made Allison feel comfortable and reminded the kids that accidents are no big deal.   I think I was embarrased more than Allison. Embarrassed  Allison just wanted to get back to class.

I didn't want to make Allison feel bad, but there was that litle bit of me thinking "Why didn't you say something."  Bad mom for thinking that.

Diana-  Yeah waiting for grades are the worst. I hope you get yours soon. The job search is non existent right now. I'm trying to get my Bar app in, and then I'll get searching. I don't plan to leave my current job until May, but I will gladly leave earlier if I get in somewhere out there! I hear most firms do most associate hiring in September though. Fingers crossed- for both of us.

I did a quick internet search and it appears that warm liquids are better for digestion than cold liquids. There is probably more of a complete explanation though, so I will be sure to ask a friend of mine who I just found out is taking a master herbalist class and is the one who mentioned it to me :-)

This.  How did you do!?!?!  Only if you want to share...

  • I'm placing a kind of large order at a local pizza place that needs to ready around 11:30 am on Saturday.

When should I place the order?

H says we should do it on Friday - "less time for them to forget the order".  I was thinking tonight in case they need to bring in an extra person that morning, they will have time to add someone to the schedule.

    When would you do it?

    How big is big.

Crazy huge like 20 pizzas, i would say a few days before. less than 8 and if they open at 11 am, I would say Friday morning.

  • Girls, don't quote me here because I'll probably DD this,

but holy mother effing crap I got an A!  I'm still in a kind of shock and now feel even more anxious (if that's possible) about how the other three turned out.
