Sad news (pet related)
I got an email from my dad that they had to put one of our childhood dogs down yesterday. 
He was SUCH a sweet boy (black lab) and I am so sad that he's gone, although I know that he's in a better place & no longer in pain.
I worry my mom is really going to miss him (my dad is a pilot & is gone from home quite a bit, so our lab was my mom's buddy when she was home alone). My dad said the vet was wonderful with them but it still breaks my heart. I keep tearing up everytime I think about it...good thing I woke up late & forgot to put mascara on today! lol
Our sweet lab, Jet, has joined all of the other beloved nestie pets who are running & playing together over the rainbow bridge 
no identifiable siggy pictures anymore, thanks a lot stupid nest!

Even when it's rationally for the best, losing a pet is so, so hard. I'm sorry, sweetie, for all of you. I hope your mom does ok!

When she is ready, there are some really great dogs in rescue here. Our own posey volunteers with a lab rescue.
Hugs. I am so very sorry. It is terribly sad to lose a pet, especially one who was with you growing up.
Like Winecat says, when your parents feel ready for a new pet, there are so many great dogs in rescue and at shelters like Maxfund and Denver Dumb Friends League. DH and I volunteer with American Brittany Rescue (link in siggy).
