Twinkies days are numbered

Hostess, the maker of twinkies and ding dongs, is filing for bankruptcy.

The movement towards healthier eating has done it's damage, and our favorite snack cakes are suffering.   I know, I know, we are probably all better off without the twinkie, but it's bittersweet.

I sure hope Peeps aren't next.

  • This makes me sad.

  • I read that Hostess will still be manufacturing all of their treats even though they are filing for chapter 11. Long live the ding dong! hehe.
  • I haven't eaten a twinkie since I was a kid.  Something about the fact that the "cream" center doesn't have to be refrigerated and yet remains edible for a long period of time grosses me out.

  • I know it's because people are trying to eat healthier, but I feel terrible that all of those workers are going to be unemployed.  How sad.

  • I'm not sure I've ever had a twinkie before. I just recently had one of the coconut things.

    Those are the sh!t.

Noooo!!! Peeps are never going anywhere! I'll buy enough to keep them out of the red if need be!

They are restructuring, not shutting down.

yeah, I guess I misunderstood and thought they were for sure going under.

The last twinkie I had was a deep fried twinkie at the Texas State Fair a couple years ago.  Cool      I have not allowed myself to actually purchase a box of them in the store but in hopes of saving the workers for Hostess, I may have to pick one up next time.

  • Hopefully they come up with some healthier snacks and start raking in the big bucks.
