If you are invited to a baby shower...(Clicky)
If you don't go, do you have to buy a gift anyway?
1. I don't like the girl.
2. She doesn't like me.
3. Someone is throwing it for her, so it isn't really 'gift grabby'.
4. We are not close. In any way. In fact, she stood me up twice for dinner plans. I washed my hands of the relationship at that point.
Does this make sense? I know it makes me sound...ungrateful? Unfriendly? I can't think of the appropriate word. Feel free to substitute it in. Cranky?
Ok, so now that you have your answer, does your answer change if she is family? Like your H's cousin's wife?

No.
My answer would be NO.
Even if it was family, unless she (or her H) is someone I'm close to, I wouldn't bother.
I had an acquaintance from 4-H that was having a shower hosted by her mom. I attended and got her a small gift. I was fuming after I left when I found out it was her 4th!! shower for this kid. She had one for her side of family, one for his side, one put on by their church, and one for 4-H and dairy farmer friends(this was me). Gift grabby much!
