Starting my volunteer help tomorrow!

I'm going to a rescue shelter tomorrow to start volunteering at a cat shelter! Anyone have recommendations/pointers I should look out for?

Re: Starting my volunteer help tomorrow!

  • Wear old clothes that can get dirty, scratched up, etc.

Do you have animals at home? If so, I'd suggest washing your hands and arms thoroughly with soap and hot water before leaving the shelter, wearing an old pair of sneakers and leaving them in your car, and changing clothes as soon as you get home (before you interact with your own pets).

  • That's a good idea! When I lived with my in-laws we took in a dog that was found outdoors that ended up having parvo. Very scary because we had a dog and were scared he might get it.
  • Have fun! Enjoy! And try to not fall in love with too many :o)
