Hey all,
My mother is coming out to visit me in March. I want to take her to the Grand Canyon and Sedona. I've been to Sedona several times, but never stayed overnight. Any recommendations? I'm not looking to blow a ton of money, but I want my mom to be comfortable and enjoy herself. Thanks in advance!
Re: Sedona recommendations?
March is our busy time.
But, there are various places that are great.
The Amara is wonderful.
There are also many fantastic bed and breakfasts.
I've been a few times and we plan to go many more, Sedona is one of our favorite places to go for a weekend trip! The Red Agave Resort is the best place! They have a fire pit with s'more stuff nightly for guests, 3 hot tubs, a heated swimming pool, great location and you can start the bell rock hike from the backyard. Plus, it's completely affordable! My husband and I went with my mother in over Thanksgiving and hiked around, it was lovely. There is a delicious bakery right there as well, Desert Flour, they have yummy breakfast and salads, and amazing mousse cakes! Famous Pizza is also delicious if you want something easy, there is also a really great korean place above this funky little new age shop right on the main street in Sedona, and a yummy fudge shop too, you can watch them make it in the store. (desert flour and famous pizza are in Oak Creek Village, just a couple minutes outside the touristy mainstreet of Sedona, you drive through it coming from Phoenix, but it's all part of Sedona, and that's where most of the hikes begin.)
If you are a hiker, I suggest the Chapel Rock hike, it's breathtaking beautiful, and although it seems impossibly steep and one point and you have to kind of boulder over the rocks and use your hands, it's absolutely worth it, and that part is very short and much much easier than it looks. A super easy nature walk is Oak Creek trail, it's also very very pretty, as well as Bell rock, also easy if you don't decide to climb the backside of the bell. Bring a camera, everywhere is beautiful, and you can't really go wrong no matter what the hike. (ask wherever you stay about how to look for vortexes, we thought it was fun to see if we could "feel the vibes" from them, but aside from the twisty trees, we couldn't tell)
Hope this helps, and enjoy!!
