Re: pilot/sorento/acadia owners
2009 Pilot EXL - Pros everything its a Honda, Cons- can't think of anything.
We looked at Acadias and Sorentos-
Acadias were too much and for the features I got in the Pilot the Acadia would have been empty for same price.
Sorento- the guy told us not to look at them because it didn't have what we wanted.. a usable 3rd row for car seats and people.
I have a CRV for today because my Pilot is in shop and OMG is it small. Many times have we taken 5 adults and 2 kids in the Pilot at once and everyone is comfortable and still have room for stroller, diaper bags and everything else we want.
BIL who works at a shop said Honda hands down when it comes to ease of working on them, how long they last, parts etc. I will have the car 4 months at end of month and have already put on 9K miles
2011 Pilot EXL and very happy with it, same reasons as navy
We only looked at that and the Highlander b/c DH is a bit wacky (he's a toyota loyalist and I had to twist his arm to try honda- he's glad he did).
DH loves it w/o qualification. My only issue is the size- it is big and I prefer smaller cars. (I know I will get used to it- I don't drive the Pilot much since it is the "baby" car and I take the camry to work.)
It's great for a growing family. We had J and both nieces in the second row over the wknd with no squishing. The third row is great and when folded down, our dog travels in style
I have a 2011 Pilot EX-L model so no DVD or NAV but leather (I had leased a 2009 EXL in 08) I do love my suv its totally reliable I literally put gas in it and change the oil every 3000 miles and its good to go. I dont really have any cons they have made some good upgrades since my leased one (shifter/shift knob & body styling & ECO mode to help save gas by shutting down cylinders when they arent needed/in use)
ot really a con just something I wish it had:
-an auto open/close trunk button on the trunk
- a trunk open button on my key- the button thats there only opens the glass
-a thing that rolls up so you can cover whats in the trunk (its extra)- around xmas time its nice not to advertise that you just spent gobs of money and all the packages are visible to any one that looks in your windows.
- I dont know if they offer it but a button on the outside of the door so you dont need to find your keys to lock/unlock just as long as they are on you- it was a feature on my altima that I desperately miss especially with a baby and my hands always being full.
I still really like the Acadia but Im not sure if its equal in size, but a lot of the standard features in the pilot are extras in the Acadia and its price were what detered me.
I never looked at the sorento. I have heard good things about the traverse. HTH
Also, if you are planning on buying vs leasing you will own that pilot until it has 200k on it
You can get this aftermarket for much cheaper. I have a 2010 Pilot and bought this from a website (I could look it up for you) and have used only a handful of times however. I also got the rubber mats from the same site.
I have the basic Pilot (no leather seats, no navigation, etc) and I love it. I didn't think the money was worth it to upgrade to the dvd/entertainment system (would have been another $3k). I also didn't like that at the time, you had to upgrade to the leather seats first. The first car I ever bought brand new was a 98 Honda Accord and we ran it into the ground (200K miles) this past spring. The Pilot drives just like the Accord to be honest, it is just larger.
With one car seat, we can fit 4 adults and 3 kids (8-12) plus the baby comfortably.
ssage- what site did you use? I want rubber mats.
