Hey, I just saw in your transplant post that you speak German and wouldn't mind living in Munich. Do you have family there? Dh has family near Stuttgart and we visited a couple of years ago after a detour to Munich for Oktober Fest. Dh and I could totally see ourselves living in Germany for a year or two stint after the skids are older. Though, I don't really speak German either. I've been trying to learn, but I think I need a class. Would your dh be opening to learning it?

Re: *emyinpink*
Don't have family there, but when I was a kid, my whole family lived just outside of Munich for a year (my parents are scientists). We went to regular German schools, so I picked it up. I've now been back many times, and have friends there. Two of my friends even made it to Seattle for our wedding
. My dad was able to learn enough to be functional, but mostly just could understand, not speak.
DH could probably learn it (he actually took some in college since I could help him), but his main complaint is that because I speak it, he often feels left out, lol.
It's learnable as an adult, but definitely requires some work.
I seriously love Germany though. The ridiculous taxes and socialism are my only other complaint.
theerickson, they are actually right outside of Heilbronn, in Untereisesheim.
Oh that's interesting. One of my friends spent a year there too (in Munich too, ironicaly) because of her dad's work, but she went to an English speaking school.
Yeah, I'm not totally in love with the goverment and taxes, but I think I could deal with it short term. I loved it there too.
