Fashion question: long black dress and ?

Hi all!

I bought a long black dress at Pepperberry a while back for no reason at all. A girlfriend and I are spending a weekend in Prague at the end of February and decided to get opera tickets. We're dressing up and I'm debuting my long black dress!

This isn't it but it's not completely dissimilar (dress). Mine has silvery sequins around the neckline continuing to the back which is a keyhole back, not halterneck. Then just really simple to the floor. Black heels probably.

What do you wear on top of a long dress? I don't want to freeze to death (obviously we'll be taking a taxi but I'll be outside for a bit at least!). I was thinking a cropped fake fur type thing but I'm wondering if I'm too old for that (I'm 31 and wear a size 14 so I don't really like the idea of adding tons of bulk either).

Any thoughts?

I don't know what they're called, but I would wear one of those short sweater-like things that buttons up in front or is open. I would try to get a bold color so if it was cold inside the opera house I could leave it on without it looking too strange. How long is your walk? If it's short then that's all I would wear. Otherwise I would wear a winter coat on top of the sweater and check it.

I think  a shrug sounds fine.  You can find some nice ones in basic colors in the formalwear department at Debenhams (and probably other department stores as well).   I don't think 31 is too old (if it is, I'm in trouble!) :-)

I completely agree with this and you are not too old.  It is very apporiate for the opera.  Have fun, it sounds like a blast!
