So I know it may be a bit early... but I am actually excited for the first time in YEARS for vday... not b/c of some lofty expectations or anything like that though... I'm pretty lovey-dovey and with my XH the last few years of our marriage I DREADED vday b/c I was no longer in love with him and our marriage was terrible (backstory too long to rehash, you can read my previous posts to get an idea). Anyhow I left early last year, and was divorced by late Spring.
I started dating an old friend that I've known for about 6.5 years whom I'd always crushed on a bit... things are going very very well and I want to make this Vday special, fun and extra sexsi... throwing around some ideas and was curious--
1) Do you make a big deal out of vday or is it just another day?
2) any fun plans?
3) do you do vday gifts? if so, what are you planning to give your SO?
Re: Valentine's Day related
1. No, I don't even really like Valentine's day.
2. The BF and I planned on taking a trip, but since it is in the middle of the week, we will probably just do what we usually do; either run, swim, bike, and eat dinner. We will just treat it as any other day.
3. Nope. I already told him that I don't do gifts on Valentine's Day.
I would rather him do what he normally does and get me gifts at random times... I do the same for him as well.
They see us rollin'...they be hatin'.
Give me a bottle of champagne and I am happy! Though I think it is so romantic to get flowers &/or a small gift like lingere or jewelry.
Last year my ex and I were still together. And we had our DS (one year old at the time). We stayed home and made our own lobster, baked potatoes, and asparagus. And of course champagne. We enjoyed (well in hindsight perhaps I was the only one who enjoyed it) a nice evening with a special dinner and loved seeing how much DS liked lobster.
Me and my BF do not have plans this year yet. I will have my DS that night so we might do something similar...Stay at home and make a nice dinner. I think he will get me flowers but other than that I am not expecting gifts. Since it is our first Valentine's I would like to get him something special, but I can't think of anything just yet.
1) Do you make a big deal out of vday or is it just another day?
YES! This is one of my favorite holidays!!!
2) any fun plans?
One of my dreams is to attend an NBA game and our local team is playing ON V-Day?so we are going. I?m soooooo excited! In past years we have made paintings together, gone away to a B&B, dressed up and gone to a fancy restaurant, done an entire day of romantic things together, etc.
3) do you do vday gifts? if so, what are you planning to give your SO?
Yes, we always exchange presents. The past few years we?ve kept the budget at $100 each because things were tight. Not sure what we are doing this year yet!
1. nope, just another day
2. i work during the day, bf works at night
3. no gifts. i'm pretty sure we didn't even say happy valentine's day last year. we make a point to do new, fun things throughout the year (we make a yearly bucket list) so we don't make anything special of valentine's day.
1) Do you make a big deal out of vday or is it just another day? Just another day
2) any fun plans? Hm it is the middle of the week and I work so.. not sure
3) do you do vday gifts? if so, what are you planning to give your SO? I might get some Redwings tickets and take him to a game but in the past I have never really done gifts
