lol So maybe I'll do it on both!
Well we spent part of last night at the emergency vet who gave Morgan a shot to keep him from throwing up. It was at the point where he would drink a little water and not be able to keep it down.
This morning I tried Shortee's idea about the rice and boiled chicken and it seemed to work well. He ate it at about 8am and has kept it down since. We went to the vet and she did a blood panel, x-rays and a fecal sample (about $300, blah). Morgan was so scared. It was a new vet and he was all shaky. =(
He is really dehydrated. They said his potassium and something else levels were way down. They said that it looks like he ate something that is stuck in his system somewhere. We're lucky that it's not something hard, like a rock or a bone. Apparently the way it looks on the x-ray means that its soft and there is a chance that it will pass through his system by itself, given time. There still is a chance we might have to take him in for surgery, but for now we're at home.
They gave me some meds to keep him from feeling sick and something to help neutralize the stomach acid a little bit. And she said to keep feeding him the chicken/rice meal for a couple days so I had to hit the store and buy a bunch of chicken for the dog. Now he's going to be even more spoiled.
Thank you girls for the T&Ps. I was so very worried last night and this morning. I still am, but I feel a bit better.
Re: I wasn't sure which board to post this on...
Pet issues are so scary!!! Keep us update on Morgan!
Lulu started having diarrhea this morning. We just got home and found some blood in it. We don't know what's going on with her. She must have gotten into something.
Married
Aw, AMJ, I hope she's okay! Hopefully it's just a one time thing for her but definitely keep an eye out!
It's way scary. I hate the waiting game. I've just been sitting here with Mo all day hoping that he's feeling better. It's so sad. =(
